Another object is the provision of yielding, or elastic body supporting elements in comhination with the frame of the couch.

Another feature is a means for supporting a fountain bag, or reservoir above the frame of the said couch.

The device is simple in construction, neat and practical in appearance and is light in weight and of ample strength for the purpose required; and it is so designed as to be adaptable for use in a bath tub if desired.

The foregoing, together with other objects and advantages of the invention are fully described in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective View of the couch.

Referring first to Figure 1 of the drawings; the de ice comprises a frame 10 of which the shoulder portions 11 are tubular and bent inward and turned again at right angles and have hingedly attached thereto at 12 a head rest element 13 which is inclined upward and back and has slidably mounted thereon a yielding, or elastic cross band 14. This may be woven, or of any suitable material.

The side frame members 15 are telescoped into the shoulder members as seen at 16 and may he slid thereinto when the couch is to be folded up. A foot element 17 has a cross bar 18 and is hinged to the rear frame as seen at 19. Cross bands 20 and 21 eX- tend across the frame as shown. These are of yielding, or elastic material the same as that used on the head rest. Legs 22 are hingedly attached to the main frame elements and may be folded under when desired. A fountain bag support 25 is mounted in a socket 26 and has a hook 27 at its upper extremity.

The preferred construction of the leg joint is shown in Figures 2 and 3 where it may be seen that a flattened end 28 is pivoted to a lug 29 on the couch frame. A stop member 30 prevents the leg from spreading beyond the required limit.

In Figures t and 5 the hinge construction used to connect the frame elements is shown; this being the same at both ends of the couch. The hinge consists of a link 38 which is pivotally attached to the frame elements. A stop member 34 attached to the inclined element of the frame, engages the opposite frame member and maintains the whole in proper relative position.

The modified form of leg assembly shown in Figure 6 provides a chain 36 which may be used if desired to relieve the strain on the stop members 30.

The shoulder and rear frame elements may he slid together; the head and foot frame members may be folded over; the legs folded under; the hook rod removed and placed alongside the frame, and the whole enclosed within a carrying case as seen in Figure 7 of the drawings. a

The couch may be used either on the floor, or placed in a bath tub as desired. The tub method provides adequate drainage and is generally to be preferred.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:

A foldable and telescopic couch comprising tubular forward side frame portions having angularly bent elements extending toward each other, and rear frame portions which have tubular side elements of smaller diameter than those of the other and are slidable telescopically therein, a foot end element mounted on the rear frame portion and foldable thereon, a head end element foldably mounted on the forward frame portion and hinged to the inner ends of the angularly bent elements and the said head end element of narrower Width than that of the telescopic frame portions.
