Description

March 29, 1932. .T A, c, NELSON 1,851,862
MOLDBOARD Original Filed May 10. 1929 Patented Mar. 29, 1932 PATENT OFFICE ABE C. NELSON, OF CADDOA, COLORADO MOLD BOARD Substitute for abandoned application Serial No. 861,973, filed May 10, 1929. This application filed July The present application is a substitute for abandoned application #361,973, filed May 10, 1929.
This invention relates to improvements in plows, the general object of the invention being to provide a rotary disk which takes the place of the mold board, with means for cleaning the disk as the same rotates.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of a Lister plow in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view with the beam in section.
Figure 3 is a front view.
Figure l is a rear view.
In these views, 1 indicates the beam of a Lister plow, 2 indicates the mold board secured to the beam and 3 indicates the point. In carrying out my invention, I form a curved 80 shoulder 4 at each side of the top part of the mold board 2 and place a disk 5 at each side of the plow which is supported on a stub shaft 6 carried by a frame 7 at the rear of the beam, these disks being of the usual 35 concaved shape and having their edges engaging the shoulders 4 so that these disks form the major portions of the mold boards of the plow.
In order to keep these disks clean, I pro- 40 vide cleaner disks 8 for engaging their outer surfaces, these disks being carried by the arms 9 which form portions of the frame 7.
The point and stationary part of the'mold board should be made as short as possible so that the soil turned up by the plow will en age the disks as soon as possible so that the turning action is provided by the disks. Thus the draft of the plow will be greatly reduced and wet ground can be plowed with this improvement which Serial No. 553,207.
would be too wet to use a plow with a stationary mold board. The disks must be so placed that the soil will be completely turned. The disks will be kept clean of dirt which may tend to stick to the same through means of the cleaner disks 8.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changesin the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A plow comprising a beam, a double point carried thereby, a double mold board above the point, a frame at the rear part of the beam, stub shafts supported thereby, a rotatable disk on each stub shaft, each side of the mold board having a curved shoulder formed thereon and the disks having portions of their peripheries engaging the shoulders, and freely rotatable, concavo-convex cleaner disks engaging at their convex sides with peripheral portions of the concave sides of the first disks and rotatably carried by a portion of the frame.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ABE C. NELSON.
