Description

March 29, 1932. G. H. BRINKLEY NECKTIE OF THE FOUR-IN-HAND TYPE Filed May 5I lggl Yle Patemedrvir. 29;'1932y l mi La? Gnonenfnnnmxnnm or BALTIMORE; MARYLAND@ l i Nnoxrrn OF'THE'FOUBQINTAND. Trimvff` l v f Application lled May 5,
My invention relates to improvements in neckties of the four-in-hand type andhas fQI, its primary object to provide anarticle of this character which will vsimulate a hand tied necltie and yet is easier to put onand takeonl and will notwrinkle. i
A further'object of the `invention is to pr0- vide a necltie of theabove-mentioned chail its adjusted position. f Another object ofthe invention is to provide a necl'tie of the above-mentioned char-` acter which is simple and durable in construction, rehable and efficient in use and inerzpensive to manufacture.
Uther objects and advantages ofthe invenf,
tion will he apparent `during the course 'of the following description.'` n in ythe accompanying drawings, forming ka part of this specification and in which .like v numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,` Y Fig. 1 is a front elevationyiew of the tie,
Fig. 2 is a section. taken on lines of l, Fig. 3 is a sectiontaken onllines 3-,3 of
` FigQ,
- Fig. 4 is'arear viewof the'noose segment, and. Y
v'of Fig. 2.r y
- ln the drawings, wherein bodiment of my invention, the numeral. 5 denotes thevnoose segment which 1s formed from l a sheet of,y metal tapering downwardly andV having its end portions curved baclrwardly.
The Vouter face ofthe segment 5 Ais entirelyV coveredby a piene of cloth vmaterial 6, corresponding jto the ymaterialV of tl1e`t1e,.the yends ofthe material beingfelded around the sideV edges of the segment, asiat T, and secured thereto. The tie Veonsists `of-two strlpsB and 9, the strip S'liav'ingits small end inserted in k l' the top of the vsegment 5 and nxedly secured l small endoftne strip 9 extends*uptlie'front facefofvv the segment 5, beneath thenclo-th maacter having means forclamping kthe tie'in g y striplyloy the rivet laandthroughfthefre- Fig'. 5 is a crosssectiontalrenron lines 5-5V for the purpose -v s of illustration, lhave shown a preferred einA 1 ter-iajl, andlis folded over Ythe upperfedgeof v1931,. saiaifn;` 53,5;113.
`the segment.` Attached tothe extremity of the small endwo'f the'strip 9fris anelastic strip 12, which extendsfdown through the tubular clamping wedge 13, terminating a' short disi tance below the lower end ofthe segment. The vv'fide'endA ofthe strip '8 extends down l through the segment-being disposedbetween ther clamping member 10 and Vwedge 13. The r V' wedgek 13 is'lixedlylseeured to lthe elastic" siliencyof the `strip 12 clampslthe tie strip8 'l against/fthe clampingk member 10,v holding `it in its 'adjustedposition 5 kIn 1use, itwill 25e seen n ingthe Ilecktie injacoordance with the fore` that construct-i l i1 y Agoing-it will be identical .ina-ppearancewith afhand tiedtie By pulling onthe'wide end Vof 'the strip 8, the noose segment 5 *may he..= properly adjusted iwith respect tothe col1ar,: and when adjusted will beheld 'in position? through the actionof the-clamping wedge 13 whichcoacts witli'ithe vclamping member 10 to clampthe strip J8 in position.l AUpon pull-if ingthe freeend of the elastic strip12, the* wedge v13 may Vbe [released from clamping env-f gagem'entwithzthevstrip@when desired; Y Itis to be understood. that the form 'of invention herewith shownand described is tof be taken as a preferred! example of the'same. and-that certain 'changes in the shape, size and arrangement of the parts ymay vbe made Wthy out departing' from the'spirit of the inveI1-;` tion or the scope of the subjo'ined claims.y
kHaving `thus described my invention, I claim 1.l A neclrtief of the ycharacter described comprising a noose rsegment formedfrom a,
