This invention relates to syringe nozzles that are used when giving or taking internal baths and especally relates to improved means for holding and supporting the nozzle in position during the bathing operation.

The most usual method at present em ployed in giving internal baths consists in providing a water bag having a long flexible tube attached to its lower end and suspending the bag several feet above the individual so that the water will be forced in the body by gravity, a nozzle being rovided on the lower end of the tube. Many serious disadvantages are involved with that type of apparatus. First of all, it is an exceedingly tedious operation, which is decidedly uncomfortable, and it is not only inconvenient, but is practically impossible for a weak or elderly person, or a fat person, to insert the nozzle 29 in the rectum and hold the nozzle in its proper position during the intestinal treatment. In any case, the patient is subjected to much inconvenience and strain to hold the nozzle in its proper position during the flushing process.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to improve the hitherto eXisting appliances used for intestinal bathing or vaginal douching, by providing an especially constructed and simple device for holding the nozzle of a syringe in position without the use of the hand, and thus enable the user to assume any position, either sitting, standing, or lying down, with perfect comfort.

It is a further object of the invention to provide a device of the character described that is constructed to be mounted across a standard toilet seat and thus enable the user to sit directly on the nozzle during the flushing process, the said device holding and supporting the nozzle on the toilet thereby eliminating the necessity of the user bending over and holding the nozzle with the hand during the flushing treatment.

It is another object of the invention to preferably form the device out of a plura litv of non-flexible tubes that are constructed to be threaded into each other. and to be interchangeable with respect to each other, so to allow the use of a vaginal syringe attachment, and also, to provide for the greatest range of adjustment.

It is another object of the invention to provide a belt with straps for holding the nozzle in place when desired.

The invention further consists in the particular combination, construction and association of the different parts such as described in the following specification and possesses various other objects and features of advantage, some of which, with the foregoing, will be made manifest in the following description of the preferred form of the invention that is illustrated in the drawings accompanying and forming part of the specification. It is to be understood that it is not intended to limit the invention to the embodiment shown by said drawings and description, as variations may be adapted within the fundamental principle of the invention as set forth in the claims.

Figure 1 is central longitudinal sectional view of a preferred type of device involving the invention.

Figure 3 is a perspective plan view illustrating one method of mounting the device on a toilet seat.

Figure 4c is a perspective view of a belt and straps fastened to the central section of the device.

Referring in'detail to the different parts wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views, the numeral 6 designates a tube that is preferably made out of hard rubber or metal, but may be made out of any suitable material, and is threaded in each end and is provided with an upward extending portion 6a as shown in Figure 1. A syringe nozzle of any suitable type is threaded on the upward extending portion. Two nipples 7 and 8, are provided and are threaded in the center tube 6, one extending in each end thereof as shown in Figure 1. The end of one of the nipples is mounted in the flexible tube 9 that leads to the water bag 10 that is suspended above the device when it is desired to operate same. A handle 12 is threaded on the end of theother nipple and a plug 14 is threaded in said handle to close oil the passageway in the nipple so that the water will be expelled out of the nozzle. The numeral 15 designates a belt band, and 16 straps that are provided to hold the nozzle in place when desired. The numeral 17 designates a standard spring clip used to close the flexible tube and control the passage of the fluid from the water bag.

As hereinbefore stated, one of the objects of the present invention is to provide a device for holding a syringe nozzle and to mount same across a standard toilet seat. In

' Figure 3 there is illustrated a standard toilet with the device mounted thereon and the handle 12 resting on the front portion of the seat. The device may be reversed and the handle placed on the rear portion of the seat if desired. One of the nipples may be removed and the plug threaded directly in the center 7 tube 6 as shown in Figure 2, or the plug may be threaded directly on one of the nipples, and the flexible tube mounted on the same end of the nipple as the handle is on, thus permitting'the device to be adjusted to suit many different conditions.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the present invention is a simple, practical and inexpensive device, that it may be reversed and adjusted to suit many different condi-- tions, and it will hold the syringe nozzle in tube on the front portion of a toilet seat sub- 7 ing in said handle, a flexible hose for convey ing fluid to said tube through the opening in said handle, said handle having an upwardly curved portion for guiding the flexible hose substantially as set forth.

What is claimed:

1. A device of the character described comprising a tube made out of a substantially rigid material, a syringe nozzle mounted thereon and arranged between the ends thereof and adapted to be in communication with the passage-way therein, said tube being adapted to'support the syringe nozzle on top of a toilet seat, one end of said tube being adapted to carry a flexible hose, means for closing the other end of the tube, and a handle directly mounted on the last mentioned 7 end of the tube and adapted to support the
