Description

Ma rch 15, 1932. ADAMS 1,849,166
COUPON CUTTER Filed March 13. 1928 INVEIQTOR. Mm 0.4dams A TTORNEYJ' edge instruments other than coupon cutters. In these claims, for convenience in setting out the relation of the parts, I have assumed the device to be in the horizontal position in which it is normally used, and, of course, I do not intend this terminology to be construed. restrictively.
I claim: I V
1. A device of the class described comprising a horizontally extending arm having a tearing edge, a spring tongue integral with said arm and normally lying above the plane defined by the upper surface of said arnnand a pin projecting from said tongue, said pin being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon movement of said tongue toward said arm. j
2. A device of the class described comprising a horizontally extending arm having a tearing edge, a spring tongue integral with saidarm and normally lying above the plane defined by the upper surface of said arm, and
a pin pro ecting downwardly from said tongue, said arm being apertured behind said 7 tearing edge to permit the projection of said pin below the lower surface of said arm upon movement of said tongue toward said arm.
3. A device of the class described comprising a horizontally extending arm having a tearingedge, a tongue struck up from the material of said arm behind and longitudinally of said tearing edge and a plurality of spaced downwardly projecting pins on the lower surface of said tongue, said pins being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon depression of said tongue.
4, A device of the class describedcompris ing a horizontally extending arm having a tearing edge, a tongue struck up from the material of said arm behind and longitudinally of said tearing edge, a plurality of spaced downwardly projecting pins on the lower surface of said tongue, said pins being pro jected below the lower surface of said arm upon depression of said tongue, and a knob on the free end of said tongue.
5. A device of the class described comprising a horizontally extending arm having a tearingedge, a tongue struck up from the material of said arm behind and longitudinally of said tearing edge, a plurality of spaced downwardly projecting pins on the lower surface of said tongue, said pins being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon depression of said tongue, and an integrally formed knob on the free portion of said tongue. 7
6. A device of the classdescribed compris-- ing a plurality of angularly disposed arms lying in a common horizontal plane and presenting an angular tearing edge, a strip comprising angular sections struck up from the material of said arms behind and longitudinally of'said tearing edge, and a downwardly projecting pin on each section of said angu-.
lar strip, said pins being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon depression of said strip.
7 A device of the class described comprising a plurality of angularly disposed arms lying in a common horizontal plane and presenting an angular tearing edge, a strip comprising angular sections struck up from the material of said arms behind and longitudinally of said tearing edge, a downwardly projecting pin on each section of said angular strip, said pins being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon depression of said strip, and a knob on said strip at the junction of said sections.
8. A device of the class described comprising a plurality of angularly disposed arms lying in a common horizontal plane, and presenting an angular tearing edge, a strip comprising angular sections struck up from the material of said arms behind and longitudinally of said tearing edge, a downwardly projecting pin on, each section of said angular strip, said pins being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon depression of said strip, and an integrally formed knob onsaid strip at the junction of said sections,
9. A device of the class described comprising a horizontally extending arm having a tearing edge, a spring tongue integral with said arm and normally lying above the plane defined by the upper surface of said arm, and a pin struck from, the material of the tongue, said pin being projected below the lower surface of said arm upon movement of said tongue toward said arm. 7 I
10. A device of the class described, comprising a plate presenting an angular tearing edge,'a tongue struck from material of the plate and extending along and behind said tearing edge, the free portion of the tongue lying normallysubstantially to one side of the plate, a plurality of pins on said tongue spaced longitudinally thereof and projecting toward the plate, said pins being projected beyond the opposite side of the plate upon movement of said tongue toward the latter.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand. j
