the rollers, suitable driving means being associated therewith so as'to cause continued motion of the curtain upon the rollers, whereby that portion of the curtain which is visible through the window of the housing, is continuously changed. The curtain is provided with translucent areas arranged in the form of letters or other graphic representations wherby information may be conveyed to an observer; and a light source is provided behind that portionof the curtain which is visible through the window so as to increase the visbility of the translucent areas. An important feature of the invention lies in the fact that the frame may be removed from the interior of the housing, and the curtain removed from the rollers to permit its being replaced byanother carrying different advertising matter, thus permitting the use of the machine to advertise different commodities at different times.

Speciiically describing that embodiment of the invention which at present appears to be the most practical, my improved advertising device comprises a housing 6 which is preferably more or less ornamental in eX- ternal appearance, and in the front wall 7 of which a preferably relatively large aperture 8 is provided, forming a window through which a curtain may be observed. The yback wall l1 of the housing 6, is removably attached by means of a plurality of screws 12 which extend through the back adjacent its edges, `and are threaded into a flange 13 formedby bending inwards the after edges of the top 14 and side walls 16.

Removal of the back 11 permits access to a frame 17 comprising a base 18 resting loosely upon thebottom`19 of the housing 6, and a pair of spaced

An advertising device comprising a housing having a window in a Wall thereof, a frame removably receivable within said housing and comprising a base and a side rising rigidly from an end thereof, a reflector rigid with said side and extending therefrom to- Ward the other end of the base, a second side rigid with said reflector, a brace carried by said base and removably attached to said second side, rollers journalled in and extending between said sides, two of said rollers being in alignment adjacent the front of said housing, an endless curtain carried by said rollers and having translucent areas therein arranged to present advertising matter, a light source in said reflector, and means for rotating one of said rollers.

An advertising device comprising a housing having a window in a wall thereof, a frame removably receivable within said housing and comprising a base and a side rising rigidly from an end thereof, a reflector rigid with said side and extending therefrom toward the other end of the base, a second side rigid with said reflector, a bracer carried by said base and removably attached to said second side, rollers journalled in and extending between said sides, two of said rollers being in alignment adjacent the front of said housing, an endless curtain carried by said rollers and having translucent areas therein arranged to present advertising matter, another of said rollers being adjustable to vary the tension of said curtain, a light source in said reflector, and means for rotating one of said rollers.
