At its upper portion the door is provided with a window opening 56 adapted to receive the window 58. At the window opening the panel 50 isinwardly flanged as indicated at 60 and filler strips 62 arefpreferably provided between the flange 60 and the web of the door frame 46. Tf desired the filler strips may be omitted.
At the rear of the door frame at the window openings, the usual wooden finish stripV 66 is provided and is secured tothe frame 46 and to the wooden frame member 68` in any suitable way such as by means of screws.. This inner finish strip holds lthe window 5,8 in place at its Ainner edges.
At the outer face of the door there is prou vided the finishstrp or reveal indicated as a whole at 70 and shown in perspective in Fig. 7. The reveal 70 is composed of a single piece of chromium plated metal having the flanges 7 2 and 74 at its sides and the flange 76 at its upper portion.,U At its lower edge there are lprovided the tongues 7 8 which are shown as integral with the reveal but in practice arepreferably separate pieces welded to the frame 70. The reveal 70 has the shoulder 80entirely therearound and against which shoulder the outer edges of the Window V58 are adapted to strike or abut in order to hold the window in'place. Beyond the shoulder' 80 the reveal is suitably curved and terminates at the edge 82 which fits over the face of the panel 50 at the window opening edges.
' In practice the reveal 70 is chromium plated and is inserted as a unit from the outer side Vof the door. This is desirable owing to its integral construction and due to the Vfact that it is chromium plated it is preferable to show outwardly for appearance purposes; The reveal of course is inserted in the door frame after the-window 58 is in place and after the window is `dropped inthe channel 84its lowermost position, screws 86 are applied through the flanges 72, 7 4 and 7 6 into the filler strips 62, or filler strip and frame 46, to rigidly hold the reveal in place. At the bottom of the frame the tongues 78 are inwardly bent as shown in-y Fig. 6 and screws are passed through the tongues and into the belt rail 88. This particular construction of the reveal or outer securing frame is one of the essential parts of the invention. Tt greatly enhances'the appearance of the door and renders the window removable from the outer as well as the inner side. It also eliminates any welding operation and equips the door with an outer removable frame member instead of the usual integral window supporting member ofthe door.
` At the non-hinged o r lock side the door is provided with the bracket 90 secured to the frame 46 and to the panel 50 by welding as indicated at 92. The bracket has'the upper shoulder portion 94 which is adapted to receive a belt rail 88. Suitable screws 96 are vpassed through the bracket 90 to secure the belt rail in position.
The bracket 90 `has the downwardly eX- tending leg vportion 98 securedto the-door frame. The leg 98'eXtends to the bottom of the door and is for the purpose of strengthening the door and obtaining a more rig-id construction at its non-hinged side. The bracket 90 is provided with a suitable opening 100 to receive the door lock and a second opening 102 for the reception of the shank of the door handle. 4'
