Worms Me LHUGHLIN flame Patented Mar. 1,, 1932 UNITED STATES THOMAS MCLAUGHLIN, OF BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA GOLF PRACTICE SET Application filed November 20, 1929, Serial No. 408,429, and. in Australia. August 6, 1929.
The invention relatesto an improved golf practice set, the object of which is to produce a portable device for practising purposes, whereby when the ball is struck by a golf club, it flies upwards, rotates and eventually returns to its normal position avoiding the trouble of searching for and replacing it. p
The invention consists of a metal base plate mounted upon which is a vertical standard preferably of octagonal or hexagonal section; attached to the standard by a sliding socket and set. screw is a tubular horizontal arm, into the end of which is inserted a headed pin which is fastened in the tube by a split On to the pin is suspended a wire rod provided at its lower end with a horizontally disposed ring and its upper end with a hook upon which is suspended by a thimble aflexible cord and a golf ball.
In order that the invention may be easily understood I will now refer to the accompanying drawings in which,:
Fig. 1 is a perspective side elevation.
Fig. 2, fragmentary side view of horizontal arm and pin to enlarged scale.
Fig. 3, view from underside of golf ball.
The reference letters indicate like parts in all figures.
A is the metal standard fixed to a base plate B by a socket C, the end of the standard where fitting into the socket is rounded forming a shoulder, the rounded end is threaded and the standard is firmly secured to the base plate by anut D; b are holes in the base plate for screwing on to a heavy wooden block or on to a floor and 61 holes for spiking the base plate to the'grou'nd.
E is a socket slidable upon the standard A a hook K and terminating with a horizontally disposed ring L.
Suspended by a cord M furnished with a thimble N is a golf ball 0 having on its unclerside a cup-shaped washer P, a knob Q Us on the end of the cord prevents the ball from W falling off.

' What I do claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is v A golf practice set comprising a base plate provided with a socket, a'vertical standard, a sliding adjustable horizontal arm, means for fastening said arm to the standard, a wire rod provided with a hook at its top end and a ring at its bottom end pivotally suspended upon the horizontal arm, a golf ball provided with a cupped washer and a cord for suspending same from the hook on the wire rod as herein described.
. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
THOMAS. MGLAUGHLIN.
to any desired height, F a set screw for adjustably fixing the socket to the standard and F1 its handle.
G is the horizontal arm fitting into the socket E, intothe free end of the horizontal arm is inserted a headed pin H fastened by a split pin I. v
Pivotally suspended upon the'pin H is a 50 wire rod J provided at its upper end with
