rIhis invention relates to templates and more particularly to a template for use in road construction for the purpose of giving a proper contour to the concrete surface of a highway.
The chief object of this invention is to provide an efficient and economical device for smoothing down and giving the proper contour to the surface of a concrete road.
Other objects and advantages of this invention will be disclosed in the specification, claims and drawings, in which:

In building concrete roads it is the custom 25 to provide a crown in the center of the road varying in elevation according to the width of the road. It is, also, customary to face the edges of the road with suitable metal facing, usually some form of angle steel.

Heretofore this function has been performed by hand, and in order to expedite this work and provide an absolutely uniform contour to the surface of the road, I have devised the present invention.
The preferred method of construction of my device provides for a transverse beam 1 preferably fabricated from two angle bars 2, between which are bolted flat iron or steel bars. It is obvious that the crown of the road may always be centrally located in spite of 8U the longitudinal curvature of the road or the direction of pull on the cables 13.
It is, therefore, evident that not only will the crown of the road be properly centered, l 1 but the entire surface of the road will be uniform throughout its length.
While the members 3, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, are bolted to the side members 2 of the transverse beam, I wish it understood that the vertical position of these members 9U can be raised or lowered by simply drilling additional holes through the members 3 so that the surface of the concrete may be struck olf at any desired depth. As shown in Fig. 1, the surface of the road is being struck olf approximately 2 inches below the upper surace when completed for the purpose of providing a smooth surface for the wire netting reinforcement.
