Description

W. H. MANGOLD & H. SUMMERVILLE.
MEAL-BINS.
No'.184,400, Patented No-v.14,18.76. v
UNITED STATES PATEN OFFICE.
WILLIAM H. MANGOLD AND HARRY SUMMERVILLE, OF ANNA, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN MEAL-BINS.
Specification formingpart of Letters Patent No. 184,400, dated November 14, 1876; application filed May 27, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM H. MANGOLD and HARRY SUMMERVILLE, of Anna, in the county of Union and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Pantry, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure'l represents a perspective view of our pantry, and Fig. 2 a vertical .transverse section of th same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Our invention relates to an improved pantry that combinesa number of different articles of kitchen furniture, as flour and meal bins, spice-drawers, kneading-board, and cupboards, for the convenient use in households, so as to admit the ready storage of everything necessary for making bread and pastry.
The invention consists of a number of flour and meal bins arranged at the upper part of the pantry, with spice drawers below the same, closed by the hinged kneading-board. The dough-rollers, &c., are stored in a space below the cornice, while the shelves in the cupboard at the lower or base part are employed to store bread-pans, pie-plates, and other articles.
In the drawing, A represents the flour and meal bins of which two or more are arranged at the upper part of the pantry, to be used for the different kinds of flour. The bins A are filled by means of a hinged .top, B, which is covered at the closing edges by-canvas,-
cloth, or other strips, to prevent any dirt or dust from getting into the bins. The bins A are provided with inclined bottoms and spouts,
closed by slides 'G, that run in grooved guides of the spouts. By raising the slides, the required quantity of flour may be taken from the bins. The spaces above and 'sidewise of the slides may be used for hanging up spoons and other articles. The space A in front of the bins, below the cornice, serves for storing the dough-rollers, molds, and other articles. Below the spouts of the bins are arranged a number of spice-drawers, D, which, as well as the spouts, are covered by the hinged kneading-board E, when the same is carried up into closed position. In open position, the kneading-board rests on the wider base part of the pantry, and also on legs or braces E, that fold down after use into side recesses of the lower part. The base part is arranged with shelves, as a cupboard, for the storage of pans, &c., and closed by doors. The pantry is preferably placed on casters, to be readily moved from place to place, forming a compact and time-saving piece of. furniture for household uses.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A pantry consisting of apartments A A, covered by the same hinged lid B, the slide 0 at the lower end of inclined bottom, subjacent drawer D, the hinged door E, and the apartments F, having separate doors, all as shown and described.
