IMPROVEMENT IN MILK-CANS- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,091, dated November 7, 1876; application filed September 16, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DENNIS S. LEWIS, of Moline, county of Rock Island and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Milk-Gan, of which 'the following is a specification r Figure 1 is a vertical section on line 90 a in Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a top view, with the outside cover removed.
My invention consists in placing a milk-can having two com partmentsone fora quantity of milk and another for milk from a single cow for childrens use-in alarger can having a double cover and a bottom strengthened by wood. Sufficient space is left between the inner and outer can for a body of ice or cold water, and faucets are connected with the compartments in the inner can, that project through the outer can.

E is a screw-plug in the lower part of the outer can, for drawing off the water that accumulates as the ice melts.
Either cold water or broken ice may be placed in the space between the inner and outer can.
The advantages claimed for this invention are that milk may be rapidly cooled by placing it in the inner can when the space between it and the outer can is filled with broken ice; The milk may also be transported without in-' jury, as a low temperature is maintained. It
is also conveniently arranged for carrying two kinds of milk, a thing which is necessary, as children cannot with safety use mixed milk.
Having thus described myinventlon, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The can A. can B, having the compartments of, the wooden disk b, double cover 0, braces h, and faucets D O, constructed and arranged substantially as shown and described.
