made from such negatives. T o facilitate this operation, the strips may be gummed at the back so that the notes only require moistening for pasting them to the negatives.

The areas f illustrated in Figs. 1-4 are comparatively small. It has been assumed that they will bear only a single note, as a rule, a note relating to the subject of the picture. For instance the name of a person in the case of a portrait, the name of a scene or a building, or whatever it may be, is copied on the prints taken from a given negative. However, it may be desirable for the operator to make and to keep other notes which are of interest only to himself and this obviously requires a larger area. An example for a principal strip 6 with areas for several notes is illustrated in Figs. 5, 6 and 7.

As mentioned, generally only the note of the subject will be copied on the pictures while the other notes are of private interest only. Therefore, as illustrated for the picture (2), the area which is reserved for the subject is surrounded with perforations, or is otherwise so connected with the strip as to be readily detached therefrom. Obviously, a slip which is detached in this manner should be transparent. Generally, it will be found convenient to make the film of transparent material throughout, but obviously the area within the perforations might be separately prepared so as to make it transparent. The slip within the perforations should also be gummed and for the sake of simplicity it will enerally be preferred to make the strip with its stickers of gummed material throughout instead of applying adhesive to the stickers and the subject areas only.

It will he understood that the strip within the perforations is lost to the operator who is therefore under the necessity of making a separate note about the subject. This drawback is eliminated by the expedient illustrated in Fig. 7. Here, a slip 0 of transparent and preferably gummed paper is pasted to the area of the strip 6 opposite the area for the subject, or any other area from which a The slip 0 is attached to the strip e along its edges only so as to form a pocket, as best seen in Fig. 7, and a strip of carbon paper 0 is inserted between the strip e and the slip 0, with its layer facing the slip. In this manner a note which is made in the area for the subject is copied on the slip 0 which is then separated from the stri e and pasted to the negative. Instead o inserting a strip of carbon paper at the area of the subject the slip 0 might be provided with a layer of carbon or the like p at its back, as illustrated in Fig. 8. In this manner the note of the subject, or any other note or notes, may be preserved on the strip e while the slip 0, with the same note on it, is pasted to the negative.

The sections marked 1, 2, etc., are all similar although the printed matter has been omitted except in sections 3, 4, etc., to save unnecessary labor.

I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.

I claim 1. A film cartridge comprising an opaque Wrapper, a photographic film secured thereto, a detachable strip secured to said wrapper, means on said wrapper arranged to in-= dicate the location of specified sections of the film, and means on said strip adapted to define areas, each having an indicating means corresponding to one of the first-mentioned indicating means, and each area having a space for receiving information concerning the respective section of the film.

2. A film cartridge com rising an opaque wrapper, a photographic 1m secured thereto,-an adhesive sticker at one end of said wrapper, a detachable strip secured to said sticker, means on said wrapper arranged to indicate the location of specified sections of the film, and means on said strip adapted to define areas, each having an indicating means corresponding to one of the first-mentioned indicating means, and each area having a space for receiving information concerning the respective section of the film.

A film cartridge com rising an opaque wrapper, a photographic hn secured thereto, a detachable strip of transparent material secured to said wrapper, means on said wrapper arranged to indicate the location of specified sections of the film, and means on said strip adapted to define areas, each havin an indicating means corresponding to one of the first-mentioned indicating means, and each area having a space for receiving information concerning the respective section of the film.

A film cartridge com rising an opaque wrapper, a photographic film secured thereto, a detachable strip of transparent material and having a gummed back secured to said wrapper, means on said wrapper arranged to indicate the location of specified sections of the film, and means on said strip adapted to define areas, each having an indicating means corresponding to one of the first-mentioned indicating means, and each area having a space for receiving information concerning the respective section of the film.

5. A film cartridge comprising an opaque wrapper, a photo-graphic film secured thereto, a detachable strip secured to said wrapper, means on said Wrapper arranged to indicate the location of specified sections of the film,

A film cartridge comprising an opaque wrapper, a photographicfilm secured thereto, a detachable strip secured to said wrapper, means on said wrapper arranged to indicate the location of specified sections of the film, means on said strip adapted to define areas, each having an indicating means correspond ing to one of the first-mentioned indicating means, and each area having a space for receiving information concerning the respective section of the film, and a detachable slip of transparent material secured at the rear of said strip opposite one of said areas and having a portion spaced from said strip to define therewith a pocket for receiving an.
