This Vinvention Vrelates to improvements in hangers and has for its object to provide a device of this kind, in which objects of woven or flexible material, such astowels and the like, may be readily hung up without the use of hanging straps or other devices secured to the object in question.
A preferred form of the invention is illustrated on the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a top view of the hanger. Figure 2v exhibits a front View of the invention and Figure 3 a side elevation in section.
The hanger consists olf an elastic metal Wire, Y bent into an S-shaped sling l1,: one end of which has-an elongation 2 which is bent so as to form a member parallel to the middle part 11 of the S and located close to said middle part. The elongation `2 extends to the part 5V of the sling and is bent over the sling and provided with a portion 3 extending downward and being driven into a holder 6, serving for a number of hangers. The opposite end l of the metal wire sling is secured p to the holder in a similar manner.
In order to securely hold the .objects in question the middle part 11 of the sling and the elongation 2 form a, clamp the two squeezing parts of which are free to move a trie with relation to one another, the spring force and consequently the squeezing action being practically constant along the length of the gripping member. p
The cross part 5 of the sling is free to perform a slight movement longitudinally in the bend 3 of elongation 2, being guided on the other side by the holder 6 in such a manner that the squeezing member 11 is movable parallel from a position close to member 2 along the whole of its length.
The fixtures 3 and l of the vhanger may be shaped to suit anypossible requirement ooncerning the location .of the hanger either secured directly on a wall or lixed on a holder secured to the structure, whereever the hanger is to be used. The ends or the metal wire, forming the fixtures ofthe hanger, may thus be bent to one side or the other, or else they may be formed as suitable straps or the like.
They may also be carried loosely throughthe holder and constructedso as to admit the clasping of the hanger close to the holder,
when not in use, the hanger beingeasily brought into working position, when the holder `1s hung up on the wall.
I-Iaving now described my invention, what I claim is An article of manufacture, comprising la unitary metallic member having four legs JONAS LEONARD SJ DIN.
