Description

INVENTOR.
BY Wjz ATTORNEY J SIMPSON SEAM COVER FOR URINALS Filed March 14, 1951 MA /W55 J/MPJO/V Dec. 29', 1931.
Patented Dec. 29, 1931 JAMES SIMPSON, or ABINGDON, ILLINOIS, AssIGnon-mo .AnInenoN sEAnIrnnYJtnea-co OF ABING-DON', ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION ILLINOIS 1 SEAM covnn. FOR URINAIIS Application filed March 14, 1931. Serial No. 522,575.
The present invention relates to a means for covering the seam between urinals such as are now used in toilets and the principal objects of this invention are to improve upon the constructions now in use for this purpose to provide a structure for the purpose indicated which will be stronger than the structures heretofore used for this purpose; to
provide a structure of the character indicated tive only and not to be interpreted in a limiting sense. 7
In the drawings annexed hereto and forming a part hereo Fig. 1 is a rear edge view of my improved construction; 7
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of this structure;
Fig. 3 is a cross section substantially along the plane indicated by the line 33, Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a transverse section substantially along the plane 44, Fig. 2.
Referring more in detail to the annexed drawings, my new construction is shown as comprising a body, sometimes referred to as a fin, made up of a pair of parallel walls 1, a rear wall 2 and tubular walls 3, the latter surrounding openings 4 extending transversely through said body member. These tubular walls 3 serve to reinforce the body member and make the same stronger than if the space were entirely open from top to bottom thereof. Flanges 5 extend outwardly from the walls 1 and are connected to the wing 6 by curved portions 7 of the vitreous member. This device is shown as provided with a hollow head or cap 8 connected to the walls 1, flanges 5, and wing 6. It is of course understood that the cap 8 may be either hollow or solid as desired and that either construction will comewithin the spirit of this inl vention.
Holes 9 and 10 are provided in the bottom and .the cap 8, respectively, the same being used in the manufacture of this structure. If found desirable to do so, wires or other fastening means may be passed through one or'more openings 4 and secured to the wall back of the urinals to hold the cover in place. These wires may also assistin holding the urinals in place.
It is believed that the method of manufacture of this construction will be understood by persons skilled in the art and therefore that disclosure thereof is unnecessary. In use, the body member is inserted between two urinals with the flanges 5 overlapping the edges thereof to cover the joint and with the cap 8 resting on top of the top walls of the urinals to cover the joint at this place. It
will be understood that these parts are secured in place in the customary manner.
It is of course understood that the specific description of structure set forth above may be departed from without departing from the spirit of my invention as set forth in this specification and the appended claims.
Having now described my invention, I claim: 7
1. A seam cover for urinals comprising a body member having spaced walls and flanges extending laterally from these walls adjacent the forward edges thereof, a wing extending forwardly from the flanges and connected thereto to serveas a closure for the open space between the walls of the body member, and the top, bottom and rear edges being integrally connected to prevent warp- A structure of the character described comprising a hollow body member provided at its forward edge with sea-m covering projections, the lateral walls of the body member having transverse walls connecting them at intervals throughout the length thereof.
3. A seam cover for urinals comprising a pair of spaced, substantially parallel walls connected by an intergral wall along their rear edges and connected at intervals throughout their length by tubular walls extending therethrough, a head at the upper end of said walls, integral therewith, and serving as a seam cover at the upper end of the urinals, and integral seam-covering means 5 extending laterally from the body walls, said seam-covering means having a wing integrally connected therewith and extending forwardly therefrom, said wing and said body member being hollow.
r In Witness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name to this specification.
JAMES SIMPSON.
