Our invention relates to improvements in draft stops for vestibule and other doors, and the obj ect of the invention is to devise simple means which will eiectually prevent any draft passing through the clearance space between the bottom of the door and the floor, and yet will not interfere or retard the movement of the door during opening or closing and yet, at the same time, is self-adjustable to readily pass over the edge of a carpet or other similar obstruction as the door is opened or closed, and it consists essentially oi the arrangement and construction of parts allV as hereinafter more particularly eX- plained.

1 indicates a door which is hinged to the frame 2 in the usual manner. 3 and 4 are opposing brackets secured to the door adjacent its lower edge as indicated at 3 and 4X in Figs. 2 and 3. The body ot each bracket- 3 and et extends outwardly at right angles to the face of the door. members pivotally mounted at 6 to their respective brackets 3 and 4, the pivot being located intermediate of the length ot each hook member.

The upper end of each hook member is provided with a slot 8 formed concentric to the centre of the pivot 6X, and 9 is an adjusting screw which is threaded in the bracket 3 or 4 and extends through the slotted opening 8 of either of the hook members 6 or` 7, the head of the screw being on the inside of such hook member it may be readily gotten at to free the hook member so that it may swing readily upon its pivot when it is necessary to adjust the same as will hereinafter appear.

The interior hook openings of the hook members 6 or 7 are in the form of substantial- 6 and 7 are hook ly vertical slots 6. 10 is a roller provided witha covering 11 formed of carpet or other suitablefabric material. 12 and 13 are pintles extending'from the ends of the roller 10 into the slotted openings 6 of the hook members 6 and 7 resting freely therein so as to permit the roller yhaving free vertical movement.

In order to etfectually form a draft stop the roller 10 would have to contact not only with the floor but with the inner face of the door 1, the contact between the periphery of the roller and the face of the door being adjusted by the screw 9 so that there is not suiicient friction to ret-ard the free revolving motion of the roller, and yet prevent any passage of air upward between the contacting surfaces.

In opening and closing the door it will be readily seen that the roller travelling inward or outward will readily pass over the edge of a carpet such as indicated at 14 in Fig. 2, the pintles 12 and 13 rising upward in the slots 6. In closing the door, the weight of the roller when passing from the carpet on to the ioor carries the roller downward into the normal position thereby forming a tight closure in all positions.

What we claim as our invention is:

1. A draft stop comprising a pair of right angular brackets adapted to be secured to the inner face of a door and Vadjacent each vertical edge thereof, a hook lever pivotally mounted upon each bracket intermediate of its length each lever being provided with a slotted opening at its upper end concentric to its pivot and an adjusting screw carried by each bracket and extending through the slotted opening of each hook member so as to secure the same in any position to which it may be adjusted, and a roller provided with end pintles freely carried in the hooks of the hook brackets and having its exterior periphery contacting simultaneously with the floor and the adjacent face of the door.

2. A draft stop comprising a pair ot' brackets secured to the inner face of the door adjacent each vertical edge thereof, a lever pivotally mounted upon each bracket intermediate ot its length, means for adjusting the lever upon its pvot to any desired position, a roller, and means for removably mounting the ends of the roller in the lower ends of the levers so as to simultaneously Contact With the floor and with the door.
