CURTAIN ROD Filed Sept. 17, 1951 2 Sheets-Sheet 2,
Patented Dec. 22, 1931 UNITED STATES MEYER SCHWARTZ, on em. LOUIS, MISSOURI CURTAIN 301) Application filed September The present invention relates to a curtain rod and has for its prime object to provide means whereby the rod may be easily and quickly mounted in place or removed.
Another veryimportant object of the invention resides in the provision of a curtain rod of this nature which is simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, adjustable, thoroughly eflicient and reliable in use and constructed so as not to mar the woodwork of the window, door frame or like place where the same may be mounted.
With the above and numerous other ob- J'ects in View as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in cer tain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is an elevation of a rod embodying the features of my invention showing a practical application of the same in use.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the rod showing the cover flanges in section.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section through the rod.
Figure 4 is a transverse section through the rod taken substantially on the line 4.-4 of Figure 2. u
Figure 5 is a transverse section through the rod taken substantially on the line 5-5 of Figure 3. t
Figure 6 is an edge elevation of one of gaskets.
Figure 7 is a plan view thereof, and Figure 8 is an elevation of one of the threaded bars.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an elongated hollow rod oppositely internally threaded at its ends as indicated at 6. Nu- 5 merals 7 denote oppositely threaded bars adjustably disposed in the threaded ends of the rod. .Numerals 8 denote annular flanges on hollow bodies 9 which are threaded on the outer ends of the bars 7. Numerals 10 denote disk like gaskets having projections 11 at their centers extending inwardly to be disposed in the outer ends of the bodies 9. The
17.1931. Serial No. 563,391.
After therod has been approximately adjusted to fit in the window frame or the like, then the rod 5 will be turned to cause the bodies 9 to be projected outwardly and to press the gaskets 10 against the frame work and in this way the rod is securely and frictionally mounted. It is obvious that this may be accomplished quickly and that the rod may be as quickly removed.
over or guard flanges 14 are mounted on the ends of the rod and held in place by set screws 15 and cover the flanges 8 and gasket. If desired these flanges 14 may be made artistically and may be decorated in any conventional manner.
It is thought that the construction, operation, utilityand advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely forthe purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
.1. A device of the class described including an elongated hollow rod oppositely internally threaded at its ends, oppositely threaded bars in said ends, flanges having hollow bodies threaded on the portions of the bars projecting from the rod.
2. A device of the class described including an elongated hollow rod oppositely internally threaded at its ends, oppositely threaded bars in said ends, flanges having hollow bodies threaded on the portions of the bars projecting from the rod, and disk like gaskets having central projections extending into the hollow bodies.
5 3. A device of the class described includ ing an elongated hollow rod oppositely internally threaded at its ends, oppositely threaded bars in said ends, flanges having hollow bodies threaded on the portions of the bars projecting from the rod, and disk like gaskets having central projections extending into the hollow bodies cover flanges on the ends of the rods to cover the first mentioned flanges and the gasket, and set screws.
for holding said cover flanges in place.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
