IMPROVEMENT IN CISTERNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,575, dated October 24, 1876; application led April 25, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAlvLEs KENNON, of Jamestown, Greene' county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Wells and Oisterns, of which the following is a specification:
Figures l and 2 represent vertical central sections of my improved walling for wells and cisterns.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of my invention is to furnish an improved walling for wells and cisterns of all kinds, so that the Water is kept free of dirt in the same;v and the invention consists of a walling of burned clay, made in sections 0r solid, and with enlarged upper edge or seat part.
In the drawing, A vrepresents the Walling for wells and cisterns, which is made of burned clay or other material, in section, as shown in Fig. 2, which are placed one on top of the other from the bottom to the top, being of any suitable thickness, height, and diameter.
The walling prevents any earth or dirt from falling into the water, the well being also covered at the top to exclude dirt and impurities.l

Having thus described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A walling for wells and cisterns made of sections, or in one continuous piece of burned clay, with top covering, the upper edge or seat of the sections being made wider than the lower, substantially as specified.
