Description

Dec. 8, W31. H. F. LIVERMORE HARNESS CORD FOR LOOMS Filed Jan. 9, 1951 III M it. M
Patented Dec. 8, 1931 UNITED" STATES PATENT OFFICE HOMER F. LIVERHORE, OF BROOKLINE, MASSACHUSETTS, ABSIGNOB TO GUARANTEED PARTS, INC 0] ALLSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION OF MASSACHUSETTS mums com) roa Looms Application filed January 9, 1881. Serial No. 507,606.
' out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings:
Fig.1 is a front elevation of a harness cord embodyin my invention.
Fig. 2 is a p an view of the same, Figs. 1 and'2 being broken away.
Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.,
Fig. 4 is a sectional elevation taken on the line 44, Fig. 1. I
Fig. 5 is a sectional elevation taken on line 5-5, Fig. 2. I
Like numerals refer to like parts in the several .views of the drawings, which are made on an enlarged scale.
In the drawings, 6 is a core embodying a core 7 of flexible wire, preferably the said core is made up of a plurality of strands of flexible wire forming as a whole the core 7 of the harness cord. The core 7 is covered with a covering of textile material 8. One end of the flexible wire core 7, as seen at the left of Figs. land 5, terminates in a circular portion 9, and the said circular portion is surrounded by a tubular annular portion 10 of a clamp 11. g
' The annular portion 10 has a hollow ferrule 12 integral therewith and projecting ra-- dially therefrom and embracing that portion 13 of the cord 8 which is adjacent to the circular' portion 9 thereof, the ferrule being clamped to the cord. That portion of the cord which is positioned within the tubular annular portion of the clamp 11 has the cotering 8 removed therefrom. The tubular annular portion 10 of the clamp 11 is fastened to the circular portion 9 of the core by. solder 15 so that the circular portion 9 cannot slip 1n the hollow annular portion 10.
The right hand and of the harness cord ter- Inmates in a hook 16 which in construction is the same as the left hand end, Figs. 1 and 5,
except that there is a space 17 provided inthe annular portion of the clamp 11' through which the link 18 shown in dotted lines in Flgs. l and 2 may be introduced. If the link 18 is attached to the hook 16, the hook may be compressed to narrow the space 17, so that the lin cannot become accidentally detached from the hook.
I claim: I
1. A harness cord for looms embodying a core of flexible wire, the end of said wire terminating in a circular portion and a clamp embodying a hollow annular portion and a ferrule integral therewith and projecting radially therefrom, said circular portion of the cord being positioned within the hollow annular portion of said clamp and soldered thereto, the ferrule embracing that portion .1 of the cord adjacent said circular portion.
2. A harness cord for looms embodying a core of flexible wire, the end of said wlrc terminating in a circular portion and a clamp embodying a tubular annular portion and a splitferrule integral therewith and projecting radially therefrom, said circular portion of the cord being positioned within and surrounded by the tubular annular portion of said clamp, the ferrule embracing that portion of the cord adjacent said circular portion and clamped and soldered thereto.
3. A harness cord for looms embodying a core of flexible wire, the end of said wire terminating in a circular portion and a clamp embodying a ferrule embracing that portion ortion,
of the cord adjacent said circular and a tubular metal eye on one en of the ferrule integral therewith and embracing said circular portion of the cord and soldered thereto.
4. A harness cord for looms embodying a core of flexible wire and a covering of textile material thereon, the end of said wire projecting beyond its covering and terminating 1n an arcuate portion, and a clam embodying a tubular annular portion an a ferrule integral therewith and projecting radially therefrom, said arcuate portion of the core being positioned within the hollow annular portion of said clamp and soldered thereto,
5 the ferrule embracing that portion of the cord adjacent said arouate portion.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand. HOMER F. LIVERMORE.
