In 109 v the movable valve tion is accomplished, $fl0W equalized on each side of the crating link 21 view -of these disclosures, a -.deta'iled :description of the valve mechanism will not begiven, I
a U-shaped pipe 14130 a valve mechanism,
generally indicated at '15, thereby to force 16 open and permit pressure fluid to fiow through a pipe 17 to the unloading mechanisms 3 and thereby unload the compressor. When the unloading functhrough pipe 17 cease thus permitting pressure to be valve '16 whereclose this valve will upon a spring 18 will then to cause the stem inder for piston 10. en receiver pres sure drops to a predetermined minimum and the pilot valve vents the ipe 7, a spring 20 will move piston 10 to the right and abut against and move the stem 19 and valve 16 to open position, thereby likewise venting the pipe 17 and unloading mechanisms 3 through the pipes 14 and 7, thus causing the compressor to be reloaded. From this it will be clear that the devices 3 to effect unloading will not occur until thenose 12 has ceased to hold the lever 13 in the position to which it moved it when airacted on piston 10.
As shown in Fig. i2,the nose12ofthe controlling mechanism merely abuts against the throttle valve lever of the prime mover and is in substantially 'pposed relation to an opwhich is pivotally connected at one end to the throttle lever 13and'at its other end to a speed governor operating lever 22 which is its full open position in Fig. is speed governor, for operating lever 22, is of a usual and well-known type, driven preferably, and as herein shown, directly by the usual timing gears for the engine valve mechanism, which timing gears are contained within the usual gear case 24. The governor is of the centrifugally actuated type having a stem 25 movable to the right (Fig. 4) upon an increase in speed and in the opposite direction upon a decrease in speed, there being at lever 26 herein held in abutting engagement wise secured. While with the rod. 25 as by an adjustable sp'riiig pressed rod 27. The lever 26 is pinned to the pivotal shaft 28 to which the lever 22 is likea compression spring 29 is shown it'will of course be understood that any spring arrangement may be employed which will hold the lever 26 in en gagement with the speed responslve pin 25.
From the foregoing description of the compressor prime mover controlling mechanism 8 and the description of -the sp ee d responsive governor mechanism 23 it will be .19 to project into the cylyet thespeedgovernorandcontrolling mechventing of the air that acts in device sopera'te directreadily: seen that :both y upon the single throttle valve which conjtrols the supply Of fuel from :a .usual carburetor to the en ineicylindersandthuscon- :trols the speed ci the engine in theusual and well-known manner, and, due :to the spring arrangement for holding the levers 26 and 22, the .fluid actuated :control mechanism 8 is adapted to move-theithrot'tle "valve automatircally :1n accordance with the receiver pressure so'as-to unload the'co'mpressor and conatI'Ol the speed -:of the engine without in any way encountering .any opposing force from the speed responsive element of the speed governor such as may becreated :by thecentrifugal force therein. It is :also seen as previously pointed out that the .speed gov- .ernor may close the throttle valve independently of the controlling mechanism 8 and anismszare adapted to be maintained simultaneously in cooperating relation with the single throttle valve during normal operation.
It is-thus seen that my arrangement is relatively simpleboth in structure and o eration, requlring relatively 'few parts an only a single engine throttle valve, and While the various controls are shown as applied to a throttle valve of an internal combustion engine, it will of course be understood that this throttle valve comprises broadly a power medium control for a prime mover which may be of any usual form for driving pumping mechanisms such as compressors.
While there is in this application specifically described one form which the invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that this form of the same is shown for purposes of illustration and that the invention may be modified and embodied in various other forms without departing from its spirit or the scope of theappended claims.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
