IMPROVEMENT IN CORNER-FINISH FOR ROOMS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 82,990, dated October 10, 1876; application filed May 22, 1876.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LEVI J. BUGIBEE, of Springfield, county of Windsor, State of Vermont, have invented a new and Improved Corner-Finish, which is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

The object of my invention is to make a corner-finish self adjusting and fastening by having each of its sides received into corresponding grooves made in the corner where it is to be applied, by which device it is held firmly in place, rendering it a more durable and better finish than those now in use.

Figure 1 represents the corner, showing the grooves d d before the finish is adjusted. Fig. 2 shows the triangular plate with concave edges which forms the finish when adjusted properly into the grooves.

The device is constructed as follows: Three curved grooves, Fig. l, d d d, are cut, one at the base and one at each side of the corner, exactly corresponding in length and form with each other, and also with the edges of the curved sides 0 c c of the corner-piece A, which are to be received into them. These grooves are to be out deep enough to hold firmly the corner-piece in place. The space between and included by the three grooves d d d exactly corresponds in size with the piece which 18 to form the corner-finish. The corner-piece A being triangular in form may be constructed of sheet-iron, copper, tin, brass, or any other thin metal or substance which is firm and elastic enough to hold itself in place after its sides have been received into the grooves 01 d (1. Its shape and size is made to correspond with the space between the curved grooves d d d. Each of its sides 0 c c, which are curved, must correspond in form and length with each other as well as with the grooves 01 d d, into which they are to be received. The edges of the sides 0 c c are rounded, so that they can be received readily into the grooves d d d. The front of the corner-piece is slightly concave, while the back is correspondingly convex, and the plate is readily adjusted by pressing on its center, which forces the sides 0 c 0 into the grooves 61 d d, thus filling and being firmly held by them, making a smooth rounded corner, and a more beautiful finish than those now in use, remedying the inconvenience arising in cleaning, sweeping, and painting corners where the corner-finish is not used. It can be easily adjusted to any corner, either in house, box, trunk, sink, or refrigerator with equal advantage.

What I claim as my invention is- The corner-piece A, with its three curved sides a c 0, combined with the grooves 01 d d, substantially as above described.
