In a dental chair and'the like including a seat having a foot rest frame, a foot rest plat-form having a normally horizontally disposed lower'panel and an ,upper panel extending angularly from the lower panel and normally inclined toward the seat, the foot rest platform being pivotally mounted on the foot rest frame at the outer edge of the lower panel, lever means pivotally connected at one end to the foot rest platform for holding the 'foot rest platform when moved about its pivotal mounting toa position in which the upper panel is inclined outwardly away from the seat and is spaced above the normal horizontal position of the lower panel, and means on the foot rest frame releasably engaging the other end of the lever means.

In a dental chair and the like;including a seat having a foot rest frame, a foot rest platform having a normally horizontally disposed lower panel and an upper panel extending angularlv from the lowerpanel and normally inclined toward the'seat,the foot rest platform being pivotally mounted on the foot rest frame at the outer edge of the lower panel, an auxiliary platform member pivotally connected at one end to the foot rest platform at the inner edge of the lower panel for holding the foot: rest platform when moved about its pivotal mounting to a position in which the upper panel is inclined outwardly away from the seat and is spaced above the normally horizontal position of the lower panel, and means on the foot rest frame for releasably maintaining theauxiliary platform member in a substantially horizontal position when the upper panel is in its outwardly inclined position.
