' These devices commonly comprise a 'i'raine V and one or more plates having printing characters embossed thereon, the frame being provided with retaining means for detachably securing the plate in place thereon. I
The object ofthe present invention is to provide a blank of novel shape for making a printing plate for use in'fraines like orsubstantially like the 'it'rame disclosed in my co- 15 pending application Serial No. 411,417, filed December 4, 1929. I r
I have illustrated the blank in the accompanying drawings wherein, I
' Fig. 1 shows how the blanks are cut from a metal'sheet. i I Fig. 2 is a plan view of the blank. I Fig. 3 is a top edge view of the blank.
Fig. 4 is an end view of the'blank. V Referring to the drawings the blank 5 is edge with retainer projections 6,]6 and a I wedge projection 7 betweenthe projections. The wedge projection is, located midway between the ends of the blank and the retainer 1y to the top edge having recesses8, 8 opposite theretainer projections 6, 6 and a recess 9 projections are located between the middle and the ends of the blank. The blanks are cut from a metal sheet in strip 'form of a width the details of construction to. ineetother requirements within the scope of the ibllowing claims. '7 I I claim: I i I r 1. A blank for the printing ing device comprising-a frame having means for detachably retaining the platethereon and also havinga' device for holding the plate in a fixedposition in said --retaining means said blank having a wedge projection at one edge for co-operation with said holding device. a I i I 2. A lank for the printing plate of Va means for'detachably retaining the plate thereon and also having a device for'holding the plate in a fixed position in said reta ning means, saidblank having projectionson one edge to co-operate with said retaining means, and a'wedge pro ection between said pro ec f tions to cooperate with said holding device.
I 3. A blank for theoprinting plate of a printing device and having a wedge projection on one edge midway between theends I of the blank and retainer projections. on said edge located between the middle and the ends plate of a print; 5
printing device comprising a .fran1e*haviiig of the blank, said blank having'recesses along the opposite. edge complementary to the proj ections on the firstnamed edge. I c

equal to the length of the blank withoutany waste of material and consequently the bot-- tom edge of theblank will be shapedobversef l I opposite the wedge projection 7. Printing characters are embossed on the blankto form the printing. plate and this printing plate "mounted on a. frame with the projections 6; '6 1 engaged with retaining devices and with the I wedge projection 7 co-operating with a-hold- 1 er on the frame for holding the plate in a fixed position in the. retaining devices as more particularly set forth in myco-pending applica- 1 'tion.
I have shown the inventionjina selectedf I 1' embodiment but I reserve the right to make it in other sizes andshapes and to change.
