IMPROVEMENT IN SlPHON-HEADS FOR MINERAL-WATER BOTTLES, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 182.612, dated September 26, 1876; application filed August 7, 1876. 7
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH W..STILLWELL of Peekskill, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Siphon-Heads for Mineral-Water Bottles, &c., of which the following is a specification The figure is a vertical section of a siphonhead to which my improvement has been applied.
The object of this invention is to enable the valve of the head to be removed and repacked or repaired without disturbing the connection between said head and the bottle.
The invention consists in the extension-collar, having a screw-thread cut in the inner surface of its lower part, a screw-thread cut in the outer surface of its upper part, having a ring-groove in its upper end, and a recess and shoulder in its inner surface, in combination with the base of a inafter fully described.
A is the base or cup of the head. B is the nozzle or spout. O is the neck through which the stem 1) of the valve E passes. F is the spring by which the valve E is held to its seat, and Ur is the thumb-lever by which the valve E 'is opened-about the construction of all of which parts there is nothing new. H is an extension-collar upon the inner surface of the lower part, of which, is formed a screw-thread to screw upon the neck of the bottle, and upon the outer surface of the upper part of siphon-head, as herewhich is formed a screw-thread to screw into the screw-thread in the inner surface of the base A of the head. Upon the top or upper edge of the collar H is formed a groove to receive a packing-rin g, which is pressed against a shoulder of the base A to prevent any leakage between the said base and collar. In the inner surface of the upper part of the collar H, around the opening through it, is formed as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The extension-collar H, having a screwthread cut in the inner surface of its lower part, a screw-thread cut in the outer surface of its upper part, having a ring groove in itsupper end, and a recess and shoulder in its inner surface, in combination with the base A of a siphon-head, substantially as herein shown and described.
