lMPRbVEMENT IN ANIM'AL-POKES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No; 182,325, dated September 19, 1876; application filed March 13, 1876.
animal pokes which are provided with spurs F F, spur-head B, spurplate O, tongue A, tongue-head, bow G, and spur-plate supporting-spring.
The object of our invention is to provide a combination and arrangement of parts, so that the spur-plate, supporting springs or springs shall have increased strength and flexibility,
and admit of greater economy in construction. We construct our spring from a strap or bar of metal of any desired shape, size, and
length, and then bend it in the form substantially as shown at letter D, Fig. 1.
One end of the spring D may be rigidly secured on the spur-head B in any suitable manner, and may be so arranged as to have only one spring extending back over the top of tongue A, or two springs D D may be'rigidly secured to the spur-head B, and so arranged on it that one spring will extend back on one side, and the other on the opposite side of the tongue A and parallel with it. The opposite end or ends of the spring or springs D D are rigidly secured to the spur-plate 0 either before or after thespring or springs are secured to the spur-head B.
We claim as our invention in animal-pokes The spring D, constructed as described, in
combination with the spur-head B and spurplate 0, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
