IMPROVEMENT IN VISES.
7' Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 182,2! 8, dated September 12, 1876; application filed March 23, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, REUBEN MYERS, of
Clarke county, State of Ohio, have invented by a trunnion-pivot, 0. Between jaw A and slide a is placed the operating-screw B, which is not in contact with the movable jaw A while being moved, and can, therefore, be turned while the jaw A is being moved.
When the jaw is raised up out of contact with the screw B it can be rapidly moved to or from the other jaw, and instantly ad justed to the position required, and dropped down into contact with screw B, all by a quick movement of the hand. The pressure on the jaw A causes it to impinge against screw B, entirely obviating looseuess from wearing.
I claim as my invention The hinged tilting and sliding jaw A, in combination with stationary jaw A and screw B, substantially as described.
