l esent lnventlon relates to an 1111- t in P8110118 and more particularly holdmg attachments for lead pencils sheathed in Wood or equivalent materlal.
The general object of the invention is to provide a device of thischaracter which will be more sightly in appearance, cheaper to manufacture and more readily attachable to pencils than those heretofore proposed or in use.
vention resides in the A more specific object of the inprovision of a superior eraser attachment or holder molded from a synthetic resin or phenolic conden-- satlon product.
Other objects and advantages of the vention will a ppear from the following dealled description of one preferred form elevation tached thereto thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawmgs wherem: Flg. 1 1s a side of a pencil having an eraser at- 'by means in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a detailed of Fig. 1

The reduction of the cross-section on the end of the pencil forms a shoulder 11 against which the end of tubular portion 5 seats or abuts, the height of this ortion being somewhat greater than the height of the reduced portion of the pencil to avoid abutment of the end of the pencil against the partition, and consequent possibility of an imperfect fit at the shoulder. Exteriorly, portion 5 is circular in cross-section and tapers slightly towards shoulder 11, The portion 6 has a circular interior and polygonal exterior, the latter so that it may 'be, gripped when the attachment is to be screwedon to the pencil. Within portion 6 the eraser 12 is seated, and may be cemented therein.
reference to the specific embodiment illustrated, I do not wish to be limited save by the scope of the appended claims.
I claim: I
1. In combination with a wooden sheath having an end portion reduced in size to form a shoulder spaced inwardly from the extremity of said end portion, a unitary attachment of synthetic resinous material comprising a reduced'tubular portion internally screw threaded with the bore formed by the edges of the thread of less diameter than the diameter of the reduced portion Where-by threads will be formed on the re duced portion of the sheath when the attachment is applied thereto, said attachment having a second, relatively enlarged, tubular portion to hold an eraser and a partition to separate said tubular portions spaced from Between portions 5- and 6, there is lVhile I have described my invention with the free, edge of the threaded portion a with the partition, the enlarged eraser receiving tubular portion being exteriorly provided with elongated flattened surfaces substantially co-extensive therewith. 5 2. In combination with a wooden sheath having an' end portion reduced in size to form a shoulder spaced inwardly from the extremity of said end portion, a unitary attachment comprising a tubular portion internally screw threaded with the bore formed by the edges of the thread of less diameter than the diameter of the reduced portion whereby threads will be formed on the reduced portion of the sheath when the 16 attachment is forcibly applied thereto, said attachment having a second relatively larger tubular portion to hold an eraser, the free edge of the threaded tubular portion engaging said shoulder of the sheath to stop move- 20 ment of the'attachment on the sheath.
