IMPROVEMENT IN CAR-REPLACERS.
Specifica.tion forming pa1t of Letters Patent N0. 18 l,766 dated September 5, 1876; application filed February 24, 1876.
T0 all whom it mag; concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH BOOTE, of the city of Hamilton, in the eounty of Wentworth, in the Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada, have invented a certain new and' useful Improvement 011 a Machine for Replacing Rolling-Stook 11p011 a Railway-Traek and I do hereby deelare that the followiug is a full, clear, ancl exacl: description 0f the construction and operation 0f the same, reference being l1ad 120 tl1e accompanying drawings, in whieh Figure 1 is a side view of the inveution. Fig. 2 is a plan 0f the sa1ne. Fig. 3 is an end view.

A is a wrought-iron Clip, one end of whieh, when applied, fits over the head of the 1ail, the obl1e1 01 lower end being spiked t0 the sleeper. As an auxiliary 110 Ehe replacer, I secure between tl1e rails at an angle, and in a position t0 suit; tl1e wheel which is between the rails, a1 wedge-piece 0f wood, E, which, in
order t0 preserve it may be covered wil:h iron.
As my invention is an improvement on oth ers for the sarne purpose, it; would be superfluous 110 explain l1OW tl1e car is replaced. Suffice it; t0 say that my replacer guides by tl1e tread and outaside 0f Ehe wheel, and not by the flange, as is done b v 0the1 machines used for t-l1e sa-n1e purposean improvement 1 0011- sider of great importz 1nce.
