This invention relates to containers.

One object of the invention is to provide an ornamental bottle Jfor perfume or the like mounted ony a pedestal of ornamental design and suitable tor use as a toilet accessory.

Another objectof the invention is to provide in combination an ornamental bottle for perfume or the like and an ornamental pedestal for mounting same7 said bottle being provided with a depending rectangular base portion having vmeans thereon adapted to cooperrate with means on said pedestal for anchoring the base portion to the pedestal whereby the bottle and pedestal may be securely joined together.

A further object of the invention is to provide in combination a pedestal and a bottle for perfume or the like mounted thereon, said f pedestal having a tray member therein adapt* ed to receive 'a base portion on said bottle and containing a reservoir Jfor receiving a quantity of cementitious material with which to secure the' base portion of said bottle within the tray whereby the bottle and pedestal may be joined together.

A still further object of the invention is to provide an ornamental pedestal for a perfumefbottle or the like of the character described adapted to be assembled at one operation.

The container illustrated in the drawings comprises a thin bottle 1 mounted on a rectangular pedestal 2 formed preferably of thin metal.

The body portion of the bottle 1 is preferably circular in form and is provided with a neck approximately of the same diameter as the thickness of the bottle, and a rectangular base portion 4having a lip or flange 5 around the bottom thereof. The flange 5 may be conveniently formed during the molding of the bottle by providing a groove 6 around the sides of the base portion adjacent the bottom thereof.

The bottle 1 may be molded with the rectangular base portion 4 joined thereto and by making the width of this slightly less than the width of the bottle a shoulder 4il is provided around the bottom of the bottle whose purpose will be hereinafter explained.

The center of the bottom 12 of the tray 9 is depressed so as to form a reservoir 14, preferably elliptical in shape, to augment the quantity of cementitious material 18 which the tray 9 is designed to hold for securing the bottle to the pedestal. The bottom 12 of the tray is depressed sufficiently so that the distended portion or reservoir rests upon the base plate 7 as at 15 and forms a support for the tray within the outer casing 8.

The upper edges of the outer casing are turned inwardly so as to cover the sides 11 of the tray 9 and provide a rim 16 for the shoulder 4a on the bottom of the bottle as an assist in suporting the bottle on the pedestal.

In joining the bottle to the pedestal the shoulder la is rested upon the rim 1G of the pedestal and the base portion 4 inserted within the opening 17. Before mounting the bottle on the pedestal the tray 9 is partially filled with a cementitious material 18, suchas glue,sulflcient to cover the flange 5 on the bottom of the base portion l. :Ehe-flange .5 on vthebase portion serves to anchor the bottle within the tray -Whenthe glue solidiiies .over said flange and `around-;the vbaselof rthe bottle. The glue in p-the reservoir becomes cemented tothe bottom of ,the base and this may be made very effectiveby corrugating the base of the bottle `asiat 5 during theprocess of molding so as to afford abetter cementing surface.

ln the modified form of my invention illustrated in Figure 6 there is shown a container -of the same general type as that illustrated in Figure 1. The bottle in this modification is preferably providedV with a rectangular base el having a ysubstantially ksquare shaped tongue 19 depending therefrom, said tongue being encircled at its lower ypartby a flange 20. A container of the character described comprising in combination a bottle having a depending base portion, a tongue extending downwardly on said base portion, a lip or flange encircling the lower part of said tongue and a pedestal for mounting said bottle having means thereon adapted to cooperate with said base portion, tongue and flange whereby the bottle and pedestal may be joined together.

A container of the character described comprising in combination a bottle having a rectangular depending base portion, a tongue extending downwardly on said base portion and a pedestal for mounting said bottle having a tray therein adapted to receive said .base portion and tongue andcooperating therewith in joining the'bottle and pedestal together.

A container of the character described comprising in combination a bottle having a rectangular depending base portion, a tongue extending downwardly on said base portion having a lip or flange encircling the lower part thereof and a pedestal for mounting said bottle comprising an outer casing having an opening in the top thereof, a base plate, a tray member within said outer casing` adapted to receive said base portion and tongue, a reservoir centrally disposed in said tray member for receiving a quantity of cementitious material with which to secure said base portion and tongue within said tray member whereby the bottle and pedestal may be joined together.

A container of the character described comprising in combination a bott-le having a depending base portion, a tongue extending Y downwardly on said base portion, a lip or flange encircling the lower part of said tongue and a pedestal for mounting said bottle comprising an outer casing having an opening in the top thereof, a base plate, a tray member within said outer casing adapted to receive said base portion and having a well centrally disposed therein for receiving the tongue on said base port-ion and as a reservoir for receiving a quantity of cementitious material with which to anchor said base portion and said tongue within the tray member, the distended portion of said tray member resting upon the base plate of said pedestal so as to support the tray member in position within the outer casing.

A container of the character described comprising in combination a bottle having a 1'1 rectangular depending base portion, a tongue extending downwardly on said base portion, a lip or flange encircling the lower part of said tongue and a pedestal for mounting said bottle in the shape of a truncated pyramid having a rectangular opening in the frustum thereof and comprising a base plate, an outer casing fastened to said base plate by spinning the lower periphery thereof about the edges of said base plate, a rectangular tray member within said outer casing secured within said casing by turning inwardly the upper edges of said casing about the upper edges of said tray, said tray member being adapted to receive the base port-ion'of said perfume bottle and having a recessed central portion to receive the tongue on said base portion and as a reservoir for a quantity of cementitious material with which to anchor said base portion and said tongue within the tray member, the distended portion of said tray resting upon the base plate of said pedestal so as to support the tray member in position within the outer casing.

A container of the character described, comprising in combination a bottle, a depending base portion on said bottle, a lip or flange encircling said base portion and forming the lower peripheral edge thereof, and a pedestal for mounting said bottle having means thereon adapted to cooperate with said depending base portion and said flange whereby the bottle and pedestal may be joined together.

A container of the character described, comprising a bottle having a depending base portion, a lip or flange encircling said base `portion and forming the lower peripheral edge thereof, and a pedestal for mounting said bottle having means thereon adapted to cooperate with said depending base portion and said flange whereby the bottle and pedestal may be oined together.

A container of the character described, comprising in combination a bottle, a depending base portion thereon having a portion thereof spaced from the bottom of a width less than that of the bottom thereof, and a pedestal for mounting said bottle comprising an outer casing having an opening in the top thereof, a base plate, a tray member within said outer casing adapted to receive said base portion, and a reservoir centrally disposed in said tray member for receiving a quantity of cementitious material adapted to cooperate with said base and spaced portion thereof to secure said base portion within said tray,^ whereby the bottle and pedestal may be joined together'.

A container of the character described, comprising in combination a bottle, a depending base portion thereon having ay portion thereof spaced from' the bottom of a length less than that of the bottom thereof, and a pedestal for mounting said bottle comprising an outer casing having an openinfr in the top thereof, a base plate, a tray member within said-outer casing adapted to receii esaid base portion, and a reservoir centrally disposed in `said tray member for vreceiving a quantity of cementitious material adapted to cooperatewith said base and spaced portion thereot toy secure said base portion within said tray, 'whereby the bottle and pedestal may be joined together.

A pedestal for a container or other ornamental object, comprising a base, an outer casing having upwardly extending side portions, a receptacle surrounded by said side ,portions adapted to yreceivea projecting base portion on the container or other ornamental object, and having a depressed central por# tion as a reservoir for cementitious material with which 'to secure the container or other ornamental object to the pedestal, the distended yportion or" said reservoir resting on said base so as to support the receptacle' in position within the outerfcasing.

A pedestal for a container or other ornamental object, in the shape of al truncated pyramid having a rectangular opening in the frustum thereof, comprising a base, an outer casing having upwardly extending vside .portions lfastened to saidbase at the lower edges thereof by spinning "the same about -said base, a rectangular receptacle. surrounded kby said side portions adapted to receive a lprojecting base portion on the container or other ornamental object and to containv cementitious material whereby to secure vthe container or other ornamental object to the pedestal, and a depressed central portion in said receptacle as a reservoir Lfor such cementitious material, the distended 4portion of said reservoir resting on said base so as to support the receptacle in position within the outer easing. A pedestal fora container jor other vornamental object, comprising` a base, an outer casing having upwardly extending side portions, a tray member within said vouter casing-and surrounded by said side portions, adapted to receive a projecting base portion on the container or other ornamental` object and 'having a depressed central portion as a reservoir for cementitious material with which to secure the container `or othervorna- .mental object to the pedestal, the distended portion ofsaid reservoir restingon said vbase so as to support the Vtray member in position within the outer casing anda lip onfsaid outer casing extending inwardly aboutthe periphery of said tray member, so as to prevent removal oi said tray member from said casing. l

A pedestal for a container or other ornamental object, in the shape of a truncated pyramid having aA rectangular opening in the frustum thereof, comprising a base, an outercasinghaving upwardly extending side portions fastened to said base at the lower edges thereof by spinning the same about said base, a rectangular tray member within said outer casing surrounded by said side portions adapted to receive a projecting base portion on the container or other ornamental object and to contain cementitious material whereby tol secure thecontainer or other ornamental object to the pedestal, and a depressed central portion in said tray member as a reservoir for such cementitious material, the distendedlportion of said reservoir resting on said base so as to support the tray member in position within the outer casing and a'lip extending 'inwardly about the periphery of said tray'member to prevent the removal thereofl from said outer casing.
