For the use of different sizes of coins, the front wall 24 of the chute 1 may be made adjustable transversely of the chute.
According to the invention the clockwork can also be combined with a countingdevice for the purpose of indicating how many coins inserted at different times within a given period remain before the clockwork is locked. This can be done in a most simple way by combining the counting device and the coupling mechanism 13, 3. The counting device consists of a disk 26, which participates in the turning of the wheel, and which is provided with figures from zero up to the number of teeth of the wheel 13, so that a figure (number) becomes visible for each tooth, i. e. for each step, which the wheel 13 is moved forwards. WVhen the clockwork is shut off, the zero is visible in the opening 28, as shown in Fig. 2. When the coins then are inserted, the figure (number) in the opening becomes higher and higher, thus showing how many coins have been inserted successively. Later on, during the normal running of the clock, there may be read off in the opening how many coins remain for the clock to consumebefore the clockwork is shut off.
Having now described our invention, what we'claim'as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In coin controlled savings clocks including a casing containing a clockwork and a coin chute, the combination of a driving wheel forming part of the clockwork,
a disk frictionally coupled to said driving wheel, means engageable with said disk and a part of said clockwork for locking said disk and said clockwork against movement, a pivotally mounted lever having a portion projecting into the chute and engageable by a coin;descending in said chute to rock said lever, and means carried by said lever to actuate the first named means to release the clockwork and-free said driving wheel for rotation.
2. In coin controlledsavings clocks inclucL ing a casing. containing a clockwork and a coin chute, the combination of a driving wheel forming part of the clockwork, a disk frictionally coupled to said driving wheel, a lever having one arm engageable with said disk and another arm engageable with a part of the clockwork for locking the disk and clockwork against movement, a second plvotally mounted lever having a portion projecting into the chute and engageable by a C0111 descending in said chute to rock said second lever and means carried by said first lever for, respectively, posi tively reversely rotating said disk and actuating the first named lever to release the clockwork and free said driving wheel for rotation.
3. In coin controlled savings clocks including a casing containing a clockwork and a coin chute, the combination of a driving wheel forming part of the clockwork,
'a peripherally recessed disk frictionally coupled to said driving wheel, a lever having one arm engageable with the recess in the disk and another arm engageable with a part of the clockwork for locking the disk and clockwork against movement, a gear wheel rigid with said disk, a second pivotally mounted lever having a portion projecting into the chute and engageable by a coin descending in said chute to rock said second lever, means carried by said second lever to move the arms of the first lever out of engagement with the part of the clockwork and the recess in the disk and means carried by said second lever for engaging said gear wheel reversely rotating said disc.
4:. In coin controlled savings clocks including a casing containing a clockwork and a coin chute having an aperture in a wall thereof, the carrying a driving wheel forming part of the clockwork, a disk on said shaft frictionally coupled to said driving wheel, said disk having a recess in its periphery, a ratchet wheel on said shaft rigid with the disk, a lever having one arm provided with an extension for entering said recess and another arm provided with an extension for engaging a part of the clockwork whereby when said extensions are in engagement with their co-relative parts the clockwork and disk are locked against movement, a second pivotally mounted lever having a toe extending through the aperture in the chute wall into the path of coins descending in said chute, a pawl carried by said second lever and adapted to engage said ratchet wheel to reversely rotate said disk and an arm projecting from said second lever and adapted to move the extensions of the first lever out of engagement with the disk and clockwork.
5. In coin controlled savings clocks, the combination with the elements claimed in claim 8, of a pin projecting from the periphery of the disk adjacent the recess therein and adapted to be engaged by one of the extensions of the first named lever to prevent excess reverse rotation of the disk.
