IMPROVEMENT IN SPRING BED-BOTTOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,552, dated August 29, 1876; application filed April 22, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEREMIAH BATES, of J anesville, in the county of Rock and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bed-Bottoms, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing. I
The object of my invention is to produce a bed-bottom that will be cheap, durable, and in every way comfortable, and at the same time keep clean and sweet and free from bugs. This I accomplish by a woven metallic wire netting, A, stretched upon coiled springs D, forming a selvage, a a a a, of the same material woven around the border. The wire used for this netting is to be of such size as experience shall prove to be the most suitable, and may be of iron, copper, steel, or any metallic substance, and painted, varnished, or galvanized, if desired, and the mesh to be ordinarily about one-fourth (5;) of an inch, but I do not confine myself to any particular size, as regards the wire used or the mesh, but expect these will vary according to circumstances.
I claim as my invention- The yielding woven-wire netting A, with its selvage-border, in combination with the coiled springs D of a bed-bottom, substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
