molding and of providing a positive interlock I with the plaster of the ceiling and of the side wall.
Another object of the invention is to provide a corner molding or ornamental corner strip of this character and which has a body plate so formed as to give the corner molding decorative and ornamental lines and to pro-. vide an enclosed passage for the reception of piping, wires, or the like.
A further object is to provide a corner molding or corner strip made up of similar sections adapted to be interfitted to present the apperance of a single continuous piece of molding.
Another object is to provide a corner strip or corner molding which is made up of a single piece of metal having an ornamented body and anchoring wings of expanded metal.
Other objects and advantages reside in certain features of the construction, arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which:
Figure l is a perspective view showing a portion of a room equipped with a corner molding or corner strip embodying the present invention; 1
Figure 2 1s a new in transverse vertlcal section showing the molding of'Figure. 1;
Figure 3 is a viewin elevation looking toward the right in Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a fragmentary sectional view showing how the adjacent ends of sections of the molding are interfitted.
Referring to the drawings, thenumeral 1 designatesithe side walls of theroomandnumberv 2 the ceiling thereof. "The -orna-' 1nental;corne1' strip or corner molding is designated generally at 3and, asshown in Figure 1, is positioned at the angle or corner b'etw eenathe side walls and the ceiling, thev cornerstri'p filling this angle and relieving the sharpintersection of theceiling and side walls. "This cornerrmolding' is made up of sections of suitable'lengthwhi'ch are inter fittedas will hereinafter'more fully'appear. The sections are of similariconstruction so that a description of oneJWill applyto all. "j
Each section of the "molding comprises a transversely curved or arched body plate 5" formed along its margins with a plurality of lengthwise "ridges or corrugations 6. These ridges or corrugations ti-zare "of V-sha-ped cross 'section'and are integral with the body plate 5LBeyon'dthewridges"6 anchoring wings T'lqof expanded metal arefprovidedy these wings 7 also being cut from the-"same piece ofi metall-that is utilized-to make up Y thebody plate 5 and ridges .6l
In placing the molding 1n position of thewings 7 'is'incorporated in the sidewall and the other wing. 7 is incorporated in the ceiling :withfithe ridges 1.6 and body plate 5= filling the angle between the' side wall and the' ceiling; and defii1ing with the side wall "and ceiling a passage 8 for the reception of piping, wires, or the like. Thelexpan'ded metal wings, T-mayioverlaprahd be fastened to the j metallic: or otherilathing employed "and it is adapted to an'ddoesinterlock with :thepla's I ter P. embodied inrthei side wallsfand ceiling.
The outer ridges 6 have their outer Walls-6 6. The other end of each section is shaped air like the body of the section. This provides for an interlock or interfit of the character shown in Figure 4, the plain end of the section overlapping the inwardly depressed extension of the adjacent section.
The invention claimed is: i
1. A molding for a re-entra nt corner having a transversely curved body plate for providing a convex surface in thecorner, longitudinal marginal ridges of V-shape in cross section integral with the body plate and wings of expanded metal extending from the outer-most edges of the outer marginal ridges, the wings extending at an angle to the contiguous ridges, the outersurfaces of the ridges being undercut to define pockets adapted to interlock with plaster.
t 2. A section of sheet metal corner molding including a transversely curved body plate, longitudinal marginal ridges on the body plate, wings of expanded metal extending from the ridges, the body plate and ridges having an inwardly depressed. extension at one end, said wings terminating short of said inwardly depressed tension. A
3. A metal corner molding for use between the ceiling and the side wall of a. building structure and comprising a body plate adapted to fill the angle of intersection of theiside wall and ceiling and formed with marginal ridges, and wings integral with the outermost ridges of the body plate and adapted to be embedded in the plaster of the side wall and the ceiling for supporting the molding in position, said wings coacting with said out ermost ridges to form plaster retaining pockets.
4. A metal corner molding for use between the ceiling and side wall of a building structure and comprising an inwardly. bulging convex body, plate filling the angle of intersection of the side wall and ceiling but spaced therefrom to form an unobstructed passage for the reception of pipe, wires,'and the like,
and wings connected with the body plate and extending atobtuse angles with respect to. the mean plane of the body plate and at a right angle to each other and adapted to be incorporated in the ceiling and side walls su port the molding in position.
11 Witness whereof, I hereto afiix my signature. v
