This invention relates to ielectric light fixtures and more-particularly to a wall bracket for electric lamps.

One of the objects of the'invention is the I provision of an electric light'wall bracket which is of simple construction vand which may be assembled rapidly without requiring any fastening means. I

A flaring guide 46 is fixed to the standard 34 through which the pull chain is operated. The shell 20 isfastened by screws47' to the outer surface of the insulating block 30, said shell being threaded both on its inside and outside surfaces. Fora more complete description. however, of said lamp socket said Letters Patent hereiubefore mentioned may be referred to, since the particular construction of the lamp socket constitutes no part of this invention.

The lamp socket is inserted sidewise into the recess 18 consequently the recess preferably conforms in shape to a longitudinal section of the said lamp socket. The main portion of the recess designated 18 is rectangular in cross section to accommodate the twoinsulating blocks and intermediate switch mechanism' of the socket and the other portion 50 of the recess is reduced in width to accommodate the shell portion ofthe socket. On one side of the main portion 18 of the recess and opening into it is a passage 52 which opens out on one side of the arm 16, through which passage the pull chain 45 and flaring guide 46 are moved in inserting the lamp socket into the arm 16 (Fig. 3), the guide being exposed to view on one side of the arm with the pull chain in operative position when the lamp The portion 54 of the recess is formed during the molding process in shaping the shouldered portion 28 of the opening in the arm for receiving the annular member 12 (Fig. 6).

The assembling of the fixture for installation is a matter of extreme simplicity and involves nothing; more than presenting the lamp socket sidewise to the opening of the recess in the rear face of the wall member,

first, dropping the pull chain down into the passage 52 and then dropping. the socket member'into the recess with the flaring" guide in said passage followingthe pull chain. l/Vhen the socket member has reached the bottom of the recess, that is, in the end of the arm the annular member 12 is then screwed onto the outside of the shell and tightened up to close the opening in the arm and to lock the socket in position to receive the electric lamp. Since the shoulder portions 56 in the walls of the recess constitute a restricted portion of the recess the lower part of the lamp socket made up of the twoinsulating blocks and intermediate switch mechanism is locked within the recess and cannot be withdrawn through the circular opening in the arm which facilitates the setting up of the annular member. It will be apparent that the entire assembling operation may be very rapidly performed with the expenditure of comparatively little time or effort.

Fixtures may be thus assembled for sale and shipment in one piece thereby obviating all danger of losing parts. In installing the fixture, the annular member is unscrewed and the socket dropped out of the wall member, the conductors attached to the binding screws, the socket again mounted inthe wall member, the annular member screwed in place and the fixture fastened to the wall or other surface by two screws inserted in the holes 60 The fixture illustrated in the drawings has been shown with the lamp extending upwardly but the wall member may be mounted in any desired position either to have the lamp depending or extending laterally to one side or the other. Although the invention is shown in connection with a single lamp fixture it is apparent that it is capable of use for fixtures having two or more lamps in different arrangements and for lamp sockets of diiierent constructions by merely varying the number, form or arrangementof the recesses or by providing one recess shaped to take and look a number of sockets within the wall member. The two parts of the fixture may also be made in a large variety of forms without departing from the invention.

7 It will be observed that the fact that both parts of my fixture are designed to be molded from porcelain or other suitable moldable insulating material conduces to rapidity and c-heapness of production.

It is further to be understood that my'in- Vention is not to be limited to the precise form herein shown and described since it is capable of embodiment in a wide variety of forms within the scope of the following claims.
