y This invention relatesto weather stripping and more particularly to combination fibre and metallic weather stripping in which a fibre or felt packing part is reinforced and secured by a metallic reenforcement st'rip through which it can be nailed or otherwise secured in position with relation to the doors or windows to be stripped.
' An object of the present invention is to 19 provide a weather strip ing of the character indicated, structurally Formed in such manner as to permit the coiling of the weather strip so that the same can be conveniently stored and handled in coils ratherthan in 1; lengths as is the common practice.
A further object of the invention is to provide'a weather strip of the character indicated adapted to shed rain drip.
A further object is to provide an improved so and more eficient means for securing the fibre or felt part to the metallic reinforcement strip.
Further objects will more particularly appear in connection with the following deso tailed description.
\ The invention, consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts, hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.

One edge of the reinforcement strip 2 is bent downward at a very slight oblique angle as at 3f The other edge is provided with a plurality of angular notches which define so prongs 4. Preferably the apices of these angular notches are enlarged as at 5.
The metallic reenforcement strip 2 is applied to the felt packing strip 1 by bending the prongs 4 downwardly at an oblique angle as indicated at 6 over an edge of the felt strip, the points 7 of the prongs 4: being bent upwardly against the underface of the packing strip 1 to compress the packing strip between the said prong points 7 and the down turned edge 3 of the reinforcement strip. The inclined faces 6 of the prongs 4 provide a'beveled edge to the weather strip well ada ted to shed any rain drip. Obviously if pre erred the rongs 4 can, be bent perpen- 7 dicular to the ace of the weather strip as indicated at 6" or at any other angle which may be desirable for particular purposes.
By reason of the notched edge of the reinforoement member it will be apparent that so the weather strip described will readily bend downwardly and thus permit. coiling of the weather strip in indefinite lengths into coils, thus providing compact and convenient bundles for handling, from which, lengths of weather strip can be cut as desired for particular purposes.
The enlargements 5 of the apices of the edge notches prevent s litting of; the metal by relieving all possi 1e strains at these points in the bending operation.
Various modifications in the exact shape and construction of the parts will readily sugiest themselves to those skilled in the art ut claimed.

A flexible weather strip comprising in combination a packing strip'of substantially rectangular cross section and a metallic reenforcement strip embracing part of one face and an edge of the packing strip, the edge 1 part of the reenforcement strip having notches-with their apices on a. line of fold of the metal and enlargements of the notches at their apices.

A flexible weather strip comprising in combination a packing strip and a reenforcement, the latter extending over a part of one face of the packing strip andhaving a plurality of spaced angular notches in one edge, the part between said notches being bent at an obtuse angle over the ed e of the packing strip and having their endsbent upward into locking enga ement with the packing strip. 4. A flexib e weather strip comprising in combination a packing strip and a reenforcement strip, the latter having a bod part adapted to extend over part of one f ace of the packing strip, one edge of the reenforcement strip bent downwardly at a very slight angle,.the other edge provided with a plurality of spaced angular notches, the apice of each notch being enlarged and the prongs defined by the notches bent at an obtuse angle to the body part over the edge of the packing strip, the points of the prongs being bent upwards to engage the packing strip and compress same the opposite downturned edge of t e reenforcement strip as specified. v
5.
