This invention relates to Windows and the like and has special reference to curtain and shade'supports for windows. One important object of the invention is to provide an improved general construction of devices of this character.
A second important object of the invention is to provide an improved curtain and window shade bracket adapted to be clamped onto the window frame.
A tliirdimportant object of the invention is to provide a novel arrangement of folding bracket for this purpose.
A fourth important object of the inven- 5 tion is to provide novel means on a folding bracket of this character for carrying the curtain rod supports in a detachable and adj ustable manner.
A fifth important object of the invention 2G is to provide a novel form of adjustable clamp for such a device.
A sixth important object is to provide a novel shade roller attachment for such brackets.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying 3G drawings and specifically claimed.

In each form of bracket here shown there is provided an elongated body member 10 having its top and bottom edges bevelled as at 11 on its rear face. Projecting upwardly from each body 10 is a pairof arms 12 which carry at their upper ends a channel member 13 opening forwardly and having the confronting faces of its flanges undercut to provide bevels 14. These channels carry the detac-hable curtain rod supportsas will be presently described. The double bracket used in the center of a double window and in other similar places has two of these body members connected by a hinge joint 15. Each single bracket has, in place of this hinge joint, a rearwardly projecting flange 16 wherethrough extends a clamping screw 17 having a toothed clamping jaw 13 swivelled on its inner end. Each body 10 also has an elongated keyhole slot formed therein, said slot extending from a circular portion 19 about central of the length of the body longitudinally of said body away from the clamp or hinge and having a straight portion 2O terminating in an upwardly inclined eX- tremity 21.
ln the form shown in Figure 1, there is provided a clamp havinc a rearwardly lacing channel body 22 from which extends a lateral lug 23 carrying a button 24 so proportioned that this button may be entered through the opening 19 and slid along the slot 2O with the clamp at right angles to the body 10. nt its upper end this clamp is provided with a` rearwardly extending iange 25 wherethrough extends a clamp screw 26 having on its lower end a serrated clamping aw 27. Slidable in the lower portion ot' the channel 22 is a clamping jaw having a body 28 litting the channel and a. rearwardly projecting toothed flange 29 at its lower end. rEhe body 28 slotted as at 30 and one side of the slot is provided with ratchet teeth 31 which tace downwardly and are engaged by a spring pressed pawl 32 pivoted in the channel Ey this means a rapid adjustment for length ot this clamp may be made through movement of this sliding aw while the full clamping power may be applied by the screw 26.
ln the form of the invention shown in Figure 10, there is pro-vided a clamp, the body 40 ot which as shown in detail in Figs. 18 and 19, is simply a tlat plate having a rearwardly projecting flange forming a jaw 41 and being provided with the button 42 and lug 43 as before described. This clamping member is not in itself adjustable and may be termed a fixedly positioned clamping jaw although it is detachable because its operative position is ixed.
In the form et clamp shown in Figures 16 and 17, the clamp embodies a channel body A button 34 is arranged on the back of this body and is used to connect the clamp to the body as before, but there is also provided a lug 35 which, when the clamp is on the body 10, ts in the angle portion 21 ol the slot to hold this clamp aligned with the body 10. A liange 36 is provided at one end of the channel and a clamp screw 37 extends through this iiange and carries a jaw 38 formed by a rearwardly projecting flange on a slide 39 working in the channel 33. Wlith this type of jaw, adjustment may be had at cach end ot the bracket.
The curtain rod supports of Figures 20 to 22 consist each of a tlat plate 44 having forwardly projecting rod hooks 45 and a longitudinally extending undercut rib 46 on its back fitting slidably into the channel 13. On one of the arms 12 is pivoted a latch lever 47 urged upwardly by a spring 48 and carrying` a lug 49 which passes through an opening in the bottom of the channel 13 and enters a notch 50 in the bottom of the rib 46 to hold the curtain rod support in position.
ln the form shown in Figure 23, used for supporting the centers of long rods, there is provided abevelled plate 51 having a notch 52 in its lower edge for the lug 49 and provided with a 'forwardly projecting rod supporting hook Each shade roller support consists ot a body from which projects a small bracket et the usual form. By means of this construction the clamps may be readily applied to the window frame and will hold the devices lirmly in position as shown in Figures 1 and. 10.
it is obvious that changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the principles thereoii. lt is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described but it is desired to include all such as come within the scope claimed.
l claim:
ln a device ot the kind described, a body, clamping means carried by the bony for securing the body to a lined object, a channel member carried by the body, a curtain rod bracket carrying plate slidalfily engaged in said channel member and a spring pressed latch lever pivoted to the body member and provided with a latch lug entering the channel of the channel member, said plate having a lug receiving notch in which said lug engages to hold the plate immovable with respect to said channel member.
