My invention pertains to a necktie of the four-in-hand type, having to do with the mechanical construction of the necktie.

Iii neckties of the fourTin-hand type, diffculty has been experienced in the pressing of such neckties, especially after cleanin in properly Apressing or ironing the necktie without causing creases and this is largely due to the manner in which the lining fabric is attached to the fabric forming the body-portion of the tie.A M'y invention pertains to a new manner of attaching the lining material so that the lining will remain inplace in the tie and thus to a great extent prevent wrinkling of the tie when in use and enable pressing to be done leaving the tie in a smooth finished condition. I

In forming neckties therefore I utilize a strip of lining which is narrower than the 2o fabric that forms the tie. This strip is stitched tothe fabric of the tie on the marginal edges of the lining, the stitchesextend` forming the tie with the lining strip stitched thereto, both being illustrated as fiat;

vbeing broader at one end 12 than at the `strip and the tie indicated at 18 however aref; 'not stitched. After the above stitching the tie is folded inside out and the marginal edges 19 of the fabric ,of the tie are stitched by longitudinal stitch 20. This forms the tie into a tube with a 4rlining on the outside 60 (note Fig. 3) The tie is then turned right side out whichbrings the stitches 16 and' 17 on the back of the tie and the seam 21 of the marginal edges is at the center portion of the back.

It will be seen by this construction that the -lininghas a fold 22 along each side edge 23 of the finished tie and on the inside withthe stitchin on the back of the lining. This Vholds tie lining in correct position in re- 7o gard to the structure of the tie. .The lining eing thus firmly held at opposite sides to a great `extent eliminates wrinkling of the tie `and also in pressing creasing is eliminate'd to a great extent.

Various changes may be made in the pr1nciples of my invention without departing from the spirit thereof asset forth in the description, drawings and claim:

I claim: A necktie having an elongated strip forming the outsideof the tie, such strip having its marginal edges stitches together and forming in effect a tube, such tube being flattened with folds forming the side edges of 85 the tie with the stitching onthe back of the tie, an elongated lining strip fitted inside of the outside tube and against the inside o1 tne front portion of said tube, said lining strip having folds adjacent its sides turned toward 00 the back of the tie'inside the folds of the tube, vthe marginal edges of .the lining strip being stitched to the back of the tube adj acentthe side edges of such tube, leaving a space between the marginal ed s of the 1ining strip and the stitching of t e outer strip without any interlining directly bearing thereagainst.
