IMPROVEMENT IN TOOLSTOCKS FOR SOLE-EDGEBURNIQHING MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 80,423, dated August 1. 1876; application filed March 16, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE A. FULLER- TON, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Tool-Stock for Edge-Burnishing Machines, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part hereof.
My invention consists in the combination of two too1-holders for holding the burnishingtools, as more particularly hereinafter described.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of my improved tool-stock with the shank toolstock out of use. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same with the shank tool-stock in place for use, and Fig. 3 is a front View of Fig. 2.
In burnishing the forepart of a boot or shoe two tools are required, one for the toe and sides of the forward part of the sole, and the other for theshank and heretofore it has been necessary to stop the machine and take out one of these tools and insert the other.
The object of my invention is to do away with this necessity; and to that end I mount a second tool-stock, marked B in the drawings, upon the main tool-stock A, as shown, so that it can be readily thrown up out of the way, and held up by the spring 0, as seen at Fig. 1, or thrown down for use, and held in place for use by the catch a, as seen at Figs. 2 and 3. D is the tool for the shank, and F the tool for the rest of the forepart. D is mounted in any suitable way in the swinging stock B, and F in the usual stock A. G is a thumb-piece by which the catch a is released when the swinging stock B is to be thrown up. H is the axis by which the swinging stock B is connected to the main stock A. J and K are set-screws by which the tools D and F are held in place.
The main stock A is of the construction usually used in the burnishing-machine described in Letters Patent of the United States,

The swinging stock B can be thrown up or down without stopping the machine, and is always looked in place whether it be up or down.
What I claim as my invention is The improved tool-stock for forepart burnishiug-maehines above described, consisting of the two stocks A and B, tools D and F, and catches O and a, constructed substan-. tially as set forth.
