Description
Patented Apr. 28, 1931 UNHTED STATES KINSUKE KISHIDA, OF W'AKAYAMASHI, JAPAN PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS BOTTLES WITH PATTERNS No Drawing. Application filed. May 12, 1828, Serial No. 277,395, and in Japan September 3, 1927.
This invention relates to improvements in processes for applying a patterned film to the inner side of the wall of a bottle, and consists in placing such film in a bottle,
filling the bottle with a substantially liquid adhesive to such an extent as to cause the adhesive to coat the opposing surfaces of the bottle wall and film and by its pressure to apply the adhesive to the bottle wall, as
hereinafter described.
In carrying out the present invention details of the operation and the kind of the paste to be employed are more or less varied according to the kind of the film to be provided with patterns, and the properties of the liquid to be contained in the bottle.
A few examples for practicing the present invention are illustrated below.
For applying the present invention in the bottle for containing alcohol or the liquid consisting mainly of fatty substances, viscose film provided by a suitable method as above mentioned With any patterns is rolled into a swirl shape, and inserted into the bottle, thefilm spreading then immediately against the bottle wall.
A relatively great quantity of transparent and Water soluble paste such as gelatine, casein and arabic-gum is next poured into the bottle and the bottle inclined to cause the film to settle, the film being thereby, although more or less contracted, covered by the paste, together with the inner surface of the opposing bottle wall, and by the Weight of the paste the film is pressed against the wall and caused to adhere thereto, as will be understood. The excess paste is then poured out of the bottle, and the film is, if necessary, adjusted to the exact desired position on the bottle wall by means of a bent rod or other suitable instrument and is permitted to dry. Not only is the film thus applied to the wall, but also a protective layer of the paste is formed and remains between the film and the bottle Wall, which layer prevents the coloring matter employed for develo ing the patterns on the film, from being efi eicted by the liquid to be contained in the bottle.
It will be understood that any suitable film and any suitable paste may be employed for carrying out my process within the scope of my invention.
Claims:
1. The herein described process of applying a patterned film to the inner side of the wall of a bottle, consisting in placing such film in a bottle, filling the bottle with a substantially liquid adhesive to such extent as to cause the adhesive to coat the opposing surfaces of the bottle wall and film and by its pressure to apply the adhesive to the bottle wall and finally discharging the adhesive from the bottle, leaving the film in place.
2. The herein described process of applying a patterned film to the inner side of a bottle wall, consisting in placing a film in the bottle, filling the bottle with a substantially liquid adhesive which is insoluble in I the designed liquid to be contained in the bottle so as to cause the opposing surfaces of the film and bottle wall to be coated with such adhesive and to cause such adhesive by its pressure to apply the film to the bottle wall and finally discharging the adhesive from the bottle, leaving the film in place.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
KINSUKE KISHIDA.
