The hoisting device includes a shaft 50, carrying a hand wheel 51 and mounting a worm 52 meshing with worm wheel 53 on shaft 54015 the drum or Windlass 55. This provides a form of cable winding device by means of which the cradle or carrier may be elevated and caused to maintain an adjusted position.
If desired, the winding device shown at the right of Figure 2 may be employed, and the cable not only passes around drum 55, but around drum 56 on shaft 5'7, the latter carrying a hand wheel 58. This drum 56 has associated therewith a conventional pawl and ratchet mechanism, shown at 59 and 60, the element 60 being the ratchet wheel.
\Vhat is claimed is 1. A car door hanger comprising a portable platform, a supporting structure on the platform, a frame slidable in the supporting structure, a door supporting member on said frame to engage the lower edge of a car door and permit the door to be tilted relative to the frame, pivoted manually controlled means to engage the upper edge of the door and carried by the frame and cooperating with the door supporting member in holding the door against relative movement with respect to the frame and when actuated frees the door for tilting movement on the supporting member for permitting the door to be positioned for an engagement with the door supporting means of a car, and means to raise and lower the frame.
2. A car door holder comprising a portable plat-form, pairs of vertical side members carried by the platform, side members slidable in the pairs of vertical guide menr bers, a channel door supporting member connecting the side members and engaging under the door edge of a car door, a rod j ournaled to the side members, a clip secured to the rod and engaging over the upper edge of the car door, a manually operating means connected to the clip to disengage the latter from the door to permit tilting of the door on the door supporting member, and means to raise and lower the side members.
