And inally, an object of the present in.- vention is to provide a safe, economical, and practical awning roller lixture.
These and other .objects are attained by the presentl invention, as is 'hereinafter claimed, andwhi'ch may be statedin general terms as including an` awning ixturebcaring member, a base plate therefor, and means for .connecting and supporting lthebearing member on the base plate in any one of a plurality of fixed predetermined positions.

15 having a preferably vertical axis, and the worm wheel 16 meshing with the worm 15 and having a preferably horizontal axis. The upper and lower bearing members 13 and 14 are preferably connected together by nuts, bolts and lock washers 17 and 18.
The worm wheel W16 may have formed` therein a squared axial opening 19 for receiving the squared end 2O ofthe awning roller attaching member 21. A gudgeon 22`is preferably attached to the member 21 and the awning roller 23 is preferably supported at one end on the gudgeon 22."
As shown in Fig. 5, the awning roller 23 is supported at its other end on a gudgeon 22 which is secured to an attaching member 21 journaled in a simple bearing fixture 11a. An awning covering 24 is rolled on the roller 23 and has a' U-shaped frame 25 fastened at one edge thereof, which frame is preferably hin ed in bearings 26.
ne end 27 of the integral worm shaft preferably projects through thel lower bear-V ing member 14 andhas attached thereto a hook 28 held in place by the set screw 29. A hook similar to the hook 28 may be provided at one end of a portable winding shaft (not shown), which may be engaged with the hook 28 for rotating the worm 15, the worm wheel land connected roller 23, for raising or lowering the awning covering 24.
The parts thus far described are standard awning parts and form no part Yof my invention, excepting as hereinafter set forth, and have been illustrated and described in order that the invention may be thoroughly understood. The. invention pertains to the adjustable base plate 1.2 for the awning fixture and to the manner in which the awning fixture 11 is adjustablylconnected and supported on the base plate 12.
The lower bearing member 14 is preferably provided with a rear ,wall 30 which has a ver-- tically extending rearwardly projecting rib 31 from the outer end of which integrally extends a horizontal cross rib 32 spaced from the rear face of the rear wall 30.
The base plate 12 is preferably forwardly paneled at33 and the paneled face or portion 34 projects in parallel `oset relation to the base. plate and is provided ywith a cross-shaped opening 35 best shown in Figs. 2 and 7. The angled ribs 31 and 32 are inserted through the cross-shaped opening 35 and. are then moved downwardly to the positionl shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4 for supporting the fixture 11 on the base plate 12.
In this position the front face of the rib 32 engages the rear face of the paneled portion 34while the rear faceof the rear wall 30 engages Vthe front faceof the paneled portion 34, and the vertical rib 31 extends through the vertical portion ofthe cross-shaped slot A The rear wall 30 is provided vwith a notch l36 preferably in vertical alignment with the k41, a nutl 42, and upper part of the vertical portion lof the cross-shapedopening 35`cooperateV withthe boltfor connecting the'fixture 11 on the base plate 12, in supported position.
Because the opening 35 is cross-shaped, as wellshown in Figs. 2 and 7 the ribs 31 and 32 of the fixture 11 may be inserted through the opening lin any one of four fixed .predetermined positions spaced ninety degrees' apart so that the ,base plate will assume any one of the four positions shown either vin full or in dot-dash lines in Fig. 1.
