This invention relates to improvements in tube frai ies for Axminster looms and it is the general object of the invention to provide an improved and simplified form of slicing rigid chain en aging hook.
It is a further object of my present invention to provide a rigid hook having a guide tongue to extend into a tubular bar and be guided by parts of the tube frame bracket and acted upon by a diagonally disposed spring to slide along one of the arms of the bracket.
It is another object of my present invention to provide a rigid hook having a single guiding arm coupled with a sprin which exerts a force on said hook having vertical and horizontal components, the horizontal component holding the hook normally in chain engaging position and the vertical component tendto maintain proper position between said hook and the surfac along which it slides.
With these and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resioes in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and set forth in the claims.

Fig. 1 is an end elevation of one end of my improved tube frame and clutch, the bracket and hook and certain parts of the frame and clutch being shown in section and the hook being in normal chain engaging position to support the tube frame,

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the lower end of the hook and the adjacent part of the chain engaging member of the bracket.
The tubular bar 10 may have top and bottom walls 11 and 12, respectively, which are connected by side walls 13. A spool supporting member l l extends transversely of the axis of the bar 10 to receive the gudgeon 15 of a spool S, and has a horizontal arm 16 extending into the tube frame bar and secured to the top wall 11 by means of screws 17 A chain link 18 is made of two parts be tween which extends the tongue 19 of a chain engaging member 20. The latter has a lower horizontal arm 21 extending into the bar 10 and secured thereto by means of screw 22. The clutch C has av supporting stud 23 and a stud 2% by which it is rocked around stud 23 and is provided with a lifting lip 25 to slip under the lower adjacent edge of the bar 10. The clutch also has a vertical wall 26 for a purpose to be described. The members 14 and 20 together with their arms 16 and 21 constitute what is known in the trade as an ear, hanger or bracket and are designated generally herein by the latter term.
The matter thus far described is of common construction and forms no part of my present invention. The members 14 and 20 may be welded or in any other manner secured together so as to provide a rigid bracket.

The lower end of the hook has a horizontal tongue 32 which extends into the bar 10 and lies along the under side of the arm 16. This tongue is provided with a slot 33 lying between two guides 34:, the slot being formed by striking down a finger 35 which receives the outward thrust of a conical coil spring 36. The finger 35 may be oblique with respect to a vertical lineas suggested in the drawings.
The left end of the arm 21 is bent up as at 37 and may be substantially parallel to the finger 35 and have provision for positioning the left end of the spring 36. The latter is so suspended that its axis of action is inclined, v
causing the spring to exert a force having a horizontal component tending to press the finger 35 outwardly and having also a vertical component tending to hold the tongue 9 32 against the under side of the arm 16.
The vertical portion of the member 20 is provided witn a slot 38 through which the hook 30 extends. The lower end of said slot is reduced as at 39 to provide shoulders 40 on which opposite sides of the tongue 32 may rest.

hook which is held normally against its sliding surface by means of a spring having an upward component. It will further be seen that the hook is so formed that a portion thereof slides on the chain engaging member of the bracket.
Having thus describe-a my invention it will be seen that changes and modifications may be made therein by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention and I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed, but what I claim is 1. In a tube frame for an Axminster loom having a transporting chain, a chain engaging bracket, a tubular carrier bar to which the bracket is secured, a sliding hook m mber mounted to have engagement with a part rigid with the bar and adapted to engage the transporting ch in, and resilient means disposed to exert a force on the hook having two components one of which is parallel to the bar and tends to hold the hook yieldingly in chain engaging position, and the other component acting transversely of the bar and tending to hold the hook in engagement with the rigid part along which the same slide.
2. In a tube frame for an Axminster loom having a transporting chain, a hollow carrier bar extending longitudinally of the tube frame, a bracket having a chain engaging portion extending transversely of the bar, an arm formed on the bracket and extending into the bar and secured thereto, a rigid hook member to cooperate with the transporting chain and slidable relatively to the hollow bar, said hook member having a tongue portion to extend into the bar and have engagement with the aforesaid arm, and a spring member exerting a force on said hook member having two components, one of said components being longitudinal of the bar to hold the hook in normal chain engaging position against the chain engaging portion of the bracket, and the other component being transverse of the bar to hold the tongue portion against said arm, said spring being so placed as to resist sliding movement of the hook relatively to the hollow bar.
3. In a tube frame for an Axminster loom having a transporting chain, a tubular bar extending longitudinally of the tube frame, a chain engaging member, an arm on said member extending into and secured to the bar, a spool bearing member, a second arm secured to said spool bearing member and extending into the bar and secured thereto and spaced from the first arm, a rigid hook t gaging member and having a tongue the lower end of which extends into the bar and through the chain engaging member, the latter having two spaced points of contact with the tongue along which the latter slides, said tongue sliding along the first named arm.

In a tube frame for an Axminster loom having a transporting chain, a bar extending longitudinally of the tube frame, a chain engaging member, an arm on said member extending into and secured to the bar, a spool bearing member, a second arm secured to said spool bearing member and extending into the bar and secured thereto and spaced from the first arm, a rigid hook to engage the chain and also the chain engaging member and having a tongue the lower end of which extends into the bar and through the chain engaging member, the latter having two spaced points of contact with the tongue along which the latter slides, and a diagonally disposed spring interposed between one of the arms and the tongue to move the latter normally outwardly and upwardly.
