The invention relates to a saveall or en- Extending between and secured to the trainment trap adapted to be interposed in central partition or baffle and the respecthe vapor line between the evaporator and tive outer baffies 8 and -9 are two series of condenser in a sugar making plant, for the arcuate vanes 11 and 12, respectively, which 5 purpose of separating the entrained liquids may be attached to the faces of the bafiies 55 from the gases or vapors and comprises a 5, 8 and 9 by any suitable means, as, for exdrum with an interposed series of bailies sepample, by angle irons, as indicated in the arated by arcuate vanes, each series of vanes drawings, each vane extending from the inbeing curved in opposite directions, so that ner peripheral edge of the opening 7 in the the vapors in passing between the ba tles central plate 5 to the outer peripheral edge 30 and between the vanes of the respective scof the corresponding baflie plate 8 or 9 and, ries will be subjected to a series of rapid preferably, the vanes of the respective series reversals in the direction of flow, which will are curved in opposite directions, that is to have the efiect of throwing out the entrained say, the vanes between the plates 5 and 8 15 liquids. are curved from left to right, while those 05 The invention is illustratedin the accombetween the plates 5 and 9 are curved from panying drawings, in which:-- right to left.

Fig. is a sectional side elevation, the ainner faces of baffle plates 8 and 9 is a cylin rious parts broken away to illustrate the drical screen 13. This screen may be secured structural arrangement of the parts. in position by spot welding or by any other Referring to the drawings, the body of appropriate means. The bottom of the the saveall consists of a drum of sheet metal drum is provided with discharge connections or the like comprising a central cylindrical or outlets represented by pipes 15 and 16 section 1 and frusto conical ends 2, 2, which connected to openings in the drum on either latter are provided with flanged inlet conside of the partition 5, said pipes prefer nections 3 and 4-, respectively, adapted to ably being provided with shut ofl valves 17 permit the saveall to be interpolated or con and 18, respectively, and the outlet connec- 30 nected in the pipe line between the evaporations preferably being cross connected by so tor and the condenser. The joints between pipe 19, so that a single pipe will serve to the cylindrical portion and the ends of the return the separated liquids to the evapodrum and between the inlets and outlets are rator. preferably reinforced by angle irons, as When the saveall is interposed in the pipe 35 shown, which may be connected to the strucline between the evaporator and the conture by welding, riveting or other appropridenser, in the relation indicated in Fi 1, the ate means. vapors from the evaporator enter the inlet 3 Secured transversely of the cylindrical of the saveall at high velocity and, upon portion of the drum by means of an angle striking the outer face of the bafiie plate 8, 4O band 6 is a partition 5 provided with a cenare deflected laterally in all directions and so tral opening 7 in substantial alignment with pass over the peripheral edge of the bafiie the inlet and outlet openings and is pracplate through the openings between the series tically of the same area or size of said openof vanes 11, the curvature of which vanes ings, the partition constituting a baffle plate. causes a sharp chan e of direction of flow of Disposed on each side of the central parthe vapors. The vapors then pass through tition or baiille plate 5 are imperforate bafthe screen 13, thence through the central fie plates or disks 8 and 9, which are of less opening in the partition or baflie 5, then outdiameter than the partition 5 and of conward through the screen and through the vasiderably larger diameter than the openings rious passages between the vanes 12, where 0 7 in the latter. another abrupt change in t e? direction 12 s Eli) flow is imposed, the vapors then passing over the peripheral edge of the battle 9, thence to the outlet opening 4, undergoing, in this latter passage from the peripheral edge of the baiile 9 to said outlet opening 4, another abrupt change of direction of flow. These rapid changes in the direction of flow of the vapors causes any liquid entrained therein to be thrown out and to collect in the l0\ er portion of the saveall on either side of the partition 5, from which the collected liquid may be returned to the evaporator by the discharge connections, as described. The purpose of the screen 7 is to break up any bubble formation of the entrained liquid, thereby to facilitate the separation of the liquid from the vapors.
\Vhat I claim is:
1. A saveall comprising a drum having inlet and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall ant having a. central opening, baflle plates on each side of the partition, and a series of curved vanes disposed between th faces of the partition and the respective battle plates.
2. A saveall comprising a drum having inlet and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall and having a central opening, baiile plates on each side of the partition of larger area than the opening in the partition, and series of arcuate vanes disposed between the faces of the partition and the respective battle plates.
3. A saveall comprising a drum having inlet and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall and having a central opening, baiiie plates on each side of the partition of larger area than the opening in the partition, and a series of arcuate vanes disposed between the faces of the partition and the respective battle plates, the vanes of the respective series being curved in opposite directions.
t. A saveall comprising a drum having inlet and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall and having a central openin baflle plates on each side of the partition, a series of curved vanes disposed between the faces of the partition and the respective bathe plates, and cylindrical screen engaging the periphery of the opening and abutting the inner faces of the b'aflle plates.
5. A saveall comprisinga drum having inlet and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall and having a central opening, baille plates on each side of the partition of larger area than the opening in the partition, a series of arcuate vanes disposed between the faces of the partition and the respective baflle pf ates, and a cylindrical screen engaging the periphery of the opening and abutting the in; 21' faces of the baiiie plates.
6. A saveall comprising a drur having in let and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall and having a central opening, bafl'le plates on each side of the partition of larger area than the opening in the partition, a series of arcuate vanes disposed between the faces of the partition and the respective baille plates, the vanes of the respective series being curved in opposite directions, and a cylindrical screen engaging the periphery of the opening and abutting the inner faces of the bailie plates.
7. A saveall comprising a drum having inlet and outlet openings in its ends, a transverse partition secured to its inner wall and having a central opening, baii'le plates on each side of the partition, a series of curved vanes disposed between the faces of the partition and the respective bafl'le plates, and drain connections from the bottom of the drum on each side of the partition.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
