IMPROVEMENT IN ARTIFLCIAL TEETH.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,508, dated July 4, 1876; application filed June 20, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it .known that I, MERRIoK BEMIs, of the city and county of New London, Connecti out, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Artificial Teeth, of which the following is a specification: I

The object of this invention is to furnish sets of teeth for eating purposes for those whose front teeth remain good, which will enable them to thoroughly masticate their food, and, at the same time, will avoid the necessity of having the remaining teeth drawn.
The invention consists in artificial teeth in which the plates are formed to fit over the natural teeth, and in which the teeth are all molars, and are arranged with the longer side inward, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the plate, in which the artificial teeth B are set, and which is so formed as to fit over the natural teeth where they are,
and upon the gums, or upon a metal plate between the teeth, or where there are no teeth. The artificial teeth are all molars, and are set inside out, or with their longer sides inward The plate A is made in the usual way; and the teeth B are set a little inward from the natural teeth. In this way the teeth will have a firm support for masticating, and can be taken out at other times.
The intention is intended to apply more particularly to mouths in which the front teeth are sound and low.
Having thus described my inven tion, I claim as newand desire to secure by Letters Patent Artificial teeth in which the plates A are formed to fit over the remaining natural teeth, with the teeth B arranged with the longer side inward, and being all, or only in part, molar teeth, substantially as herein shown and described.
