Description
UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEi'oE.
NOAH WARLICK, OF LAFAYETTE, ALABAMA.
SHOWER-BATH APPARATUS.
Specication of Letters Patent No. 17,948, dated August 4,' 1857.'
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, NOAH WARLICK, of Lafayette, in the county of Chambers and State of Alabama, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Shower- Baths; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, forming part of this specification, in which Figure l is a top view of the apparatus, with water passage open. Fig. 2 is a vertical section on line w the valve covering water passage. Fig. 3 is a view of securing bolt, showing arms for turning valve.
Similar characters of reference in the several figures denote the same part of the apparatus.
The object of my invention is the construction of shower baths which may be brought into operation without further adjustment than mere suspension.
The invention consists in combining with a water receiver similar to a common bucket, a perforated distributer in communication with the receiver, and a valve secured and operated by a bolt passing down through the valve, bottom of receiver, and water distributer; the operation being as hereinafter to be described.
In the drawing B is the receiver, formed like a common bucket, and capable of suspension by a handle I-I. Under the bottom and in communication with receiver B, is the distributer D; of conical form, and having the perforations a for the discharge of the water. Within and upon the bottom of the receiver', is the val/ve V, held by the bolt C passing upward through the distributer, receiver bottom, and valve; the packing Z), c, and d, making a close connection. This bolt C is screwed through the valve V so that the turning of the bolt will carry the valve With it. This turning is effected by arms f, shown in F ig.f3. This bucket receiver can be carried to a pump or well, and there filled. It is then. suspended in any desirable locality, and by turning the bolt- C, valve V will be carried to stop s as shown in Fig. l, and the contents pass through opening o to the distributer, and thence issue through the perforations a. The discharge is stopped by turning bolt C and carrying the valve against stop s.
I do not claim the distributer or rose drip D; neither do I lay claim to the portability of the apparatus.` But What I do claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The combination of the double armed bolt C with the valve V as described; whereby it is made to perform the double function of securing the valve to its seat and also of operating said valve: the arrangement being as set forth.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name before two subscribing witnesses.
NOAH WARLICK.
