The operat- In the drawing, wherein for the purpose of ing means forth-e reciprocatory upper blade f illustration is shown the preferred 'embodi 7-will now bespecifically described.
35 ment' of my invention, the numeral 1 des- '-A lever 17' is formed atits inner end with so ignates, generally my improved hair clipper, w an enlarged head 18,that extends through the the same comprising a straight handle porupper side of the enlarged portion 6 of the. tion 2 that is formed at its forward end with handle and is pivotedas at 19. The portion Y I the stationary toothed blade 3. This blade is of the head that projectsjinto the channeled formed with the cutting teeth 4: in its opportion-5'ofthe channel 2'hasupwardlyexposite edges. The handle 2 is cut out in its tending therefrom the pin that is operable upper face as at 5, for a purpose to be preswithin a transverse recess 21, formed in the ently described. Furthermore, the forward bottom face oiithe inner end portion of the end portion of the handle 2 is enlarged, as shank-9 and this feature is clearly show n in Figures 2- and 3. 'A-retractile-1 coil-spring 22 '96 is arranged between the opposed cut out faces of the handle and the housing 10. The rear end of this spring is secured in this rear end portion of the handle, while the forward end of the retractile coil spring is connected to the eye bolt 23, that is driven into the rear end of the shank 9.
Normally, the parts are arranged as shown in the drawings, and the lever 17 is held outwardly of the adjacent side of the handle of the hair clipper. By pressing inwardly on the lever. 17,, saidlever will swingonits pivot 19 to causetlle pin 2O1that is in engagement with the recess 21 to force the upper blade 7 forwardly along the upperface of the bottom blade 3 against the-tension of the coil spring 22, whereby the cutting teeth i and 8 will cooperate to out the hair. It i il it usv e e romth o so nsd scriptionthat have provided a hair'clipper that will-at all times be positive and eflic-ient inits. operation, and by reason of its construction, theisa necan be efficiently used in places forcutti-ngthe hair, which .are diiiicult-i to reach with the ordinary type of hair clipper.
lsothe construction of my hair clipper is such as to permit the parts to be readily and easily assembled or disassembled for cleaning purposes whenever necessary.
While I'have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes inthe size, shape andarrangement ofpart's may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim'asnewis:
through the enlarged head of the lever and through the lower handle portion; and an upstanding pin on the inner exterinity of the enlarged head of the lever for operative engagement in the transverse slot of the upper blade shank; and a contracting spring having one end stretched between the eye on the extremity of the upper blade shank at a point near the rear portion within the casing formedby said cover plate and the handle portion of the lower blade.
In testimony whereof, signature.
A hair c'lipper cornprisinga lower double: toothed edged blade having a handle portion 7 formed with a recess on its upper. face, an
upper double toothed, edged blade adapted to 'slide upon the ,lower blade and cooperate therewith in properly-clippinghair, a shank portio'ngon said upper blade, aneye at the extremity of the shank portion,atransverseslot being formed near the extremity and on the underside of said shank, and the cut- 7 ting portion of said upper bladeybeingipr vid-ed with longitudinal bolt receiriingslots;
