rEhe invention provides a portable aerial for radio reception, being designed more particularly for indoor use and to increase the range, obviate interference and render any set more selective.
The device consists of a length of wire, preferably stranded and insulated, wound into a flat coil and enclosed in a fiat metal.y case, and having its inner end soldered or otherwise electrically connected to the case, and having its outer end extended to be connected to the input of the radio receiver.
lVhile the drawing illustrates a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that in adapting the means to meet specific needs and requirements, the design .may be varied and such other changes in the minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the invention as claimed` without departing from the spirit thereof.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, reference is to be had in the following description and the drawing hereto attached, in which Figure l is a plan view of an indoor antenna embodying the invention, a portion of the top of the case being broken away to show the flat coil of wire and its inner end connected to the bottom of the case.
Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 2 2 of Figure l.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in both views of the drawing by like reference characters.
The device comprises a case which is preferably of circular design and constructed of sheet metal. The case is flat and comprises a bottom l, an upstanding rim 2, an outer ange 3 and a cover 4. The cover t may be soldered to the body of the case or held in place in any determinate Way. A wire is formed into a flat coil 5 to lit snugly within the case and its inner end is soldered or otherwise electrically connected to the center of the bottom 1, as indicated at 6.
In this manner the ease forms a part of the antenna beside housing the said coil of wire. The outer end of the wire projects through a side of the case and is adapted to Serial No. 295,958.

Having thus described the invention, we claim A device of the character described includa case having a bottom Wall and an upstanding rim provided with an overhanging flange, said rim having an opening therein, a coil resting on the bottom wall of the case, the turns of the coil defining an opening at the center thereof and providing an unobstructed area on the bottom Wall centrally thereof, means securing one end of the coil to said bottoni wall in said unobstructed area and electrically connecting said end of the coil with the case, the opposite end of said coil extending through said opening in the rim, and a flat cover overlying the flange in parallel relation to the bottom Wall and secured thereto for closing the case.
