Description
UNITED CHARLES 0. WILSON, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN WATER C'UT-O FFS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,246, dated June 27, 1876; application filed February 29, 1576.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GHARLEs OSBORN W ILsoN, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Attachment to Out-Off Pipes; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being made to the annexed drawing, in Which Figures 1 and 3 represent the cut-off pipe in its two different positions, and Fig. 2 a transverse section of the pipe, A being the opening where the liquid comes in; B and O, the outlets for the liquid; D, the leading or cut-off pipe; G, the cap for the purpose of effectually turning the liquid; H H, the pivots in the leading or cutoff pipe on which the cap G turns; and F F, the pivotal handle or crank attached at I. 4
This attachment to a cut-ofl' or leading pipe is to be operated by turning the little crank F F a half revolution, which turning on the point I and being firmly soldered to the cap G, and the cap G fastened by the pivots H H to the leading or cut-off pipe, and turning upon them, the leading or cut-off pipe may be shifted over either outlet B or G, and the liquid so turned in either direction, and by means of my improvement the leading or cut-0E pipe will be brought squarely over the outlet B or O, the communication between the two he completely cut off, and a perfect communication with one outlet, and a perfect non-communication with the other outlet, secured at the same time.
I disclaim everything except the cap G and combination of the handle or crank F F.
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The cap G, in combination with the crank F F, so applied to the cut-off pipe as to bring the mouth of the pipe squarely over the outlet, and make the communication andnon-communication with the outlets perfect.
CHARLES OSBORN WILSON.
