-CONVEYER Filed May '15, 1929 M EJE. Z- 50 Patented Feb. 10,' 1'931Y Riemann srREsAU, or. wnn'we'rosn, wiseoNsIiLn'ssieNoR roswirroNgilreNn- FACTURING ooMPANYyor. WEST Amis. Wisconsin., AcoRroRArIoN or wiscoNsIN Application sied May i5,
The invention relates to conveyors. l
conveyer of the endlesscarrier type in which the supports of thecarrier areso constructed and arranged as to allow the endless carrier Y member to extend the full Vwidth of the supvporting rollers without employing overhanging or outboard bearings for the roller shafts.
' A further object of the invention is to pro# vide a conveyer in which the belt or conveyer-- vcarrying rollers are formed in sections and the bearings for the shafts of said rollers areV mounted within the confines of the sections The invention further consists in the. conibination and arrangement of part-sof the conveyor as hereinafter described and more `particularly defined by claims at the conclusion hereof.
In the drawings Fig. 1 is a vertical section al view through a conveyer embodying the invention, taken on the line 1-1 of Fig. 2;
channel iron frame members 7 which may be connected to the side members 6 b anoles 'i 8 that may be riveted or bolted to these parts,
or said members 7 may be secured to the side members by welding. J
, A .transversely extending shaft bearing support 9, here shown in the form of a bar or shaft, is secured to the conveyer or frame in any suitable manner, as by the threaded ends 10 passing through openings in the side frame members and provided with shoulders 11 held in clamping engagement withsaid members by nuts 12.
Spaced bearing brackets or supports 13 arc weldedto the support 9 and extend laterally therefrom and are provided with casing portions 14 in which ball-bearing journals 15 are mounted and whose outer races are held Vtherein between the flanged ends of said cascoivvvEYnnYU A,rollersupporting'sliaft 1'8 `is keyedtothel `ingseiridfplatesflfsecuijed.toisaid:casings .i The object of the invention is to provvide a inner racesof the journals 15'and has roller sections 19, 2O and 21` j`ke`yed theretftliein- 'l tei'inediate sections 21fbeing`spacedfrom the endsections 19k and 21 a distance to admit the'y armportions ofk thefbracke-ts 13 therebetween these'ctions ybeing flanged t'o provide spaces in which the casing' portions V`14 arehoused;
The' shaft'lS may be driven in any :suitable rl manner, Vfas v'by Aprovidinga'drive extension', here shown asequippedwith a'pulley 22 for beltl connection with 'a'fsluitable'v source of*v Power. Y' i l AV shaft 23 is welded or otherwise suitably secured "toy side plates 24' slidably mountedl in the side'channels andreinforced by a transf verse 'tie'bar 25. The shaft 23 has spaced bearing brackets 25 welded thereto which,
similarto the brackets 13, extend laterally therefrom and carry roller bearings 27 lin which a roller shaft 28 is'mounted.
The shaft 28 has roller sections 29, 30 and 31 keyed thereto, the intermediate section 30 being spaced from the end sections 29 and 31 aA distance to yadmit the arm portions of the brackets 26 therebetween, the sections being flanged to provide spaces in which the journal bearings are housed. 1 7
An endless conveyer 32, here shown in the form of a belt, runs over'the supporting roll,- ers and its' tension is adjusted by the adjustnient of the sliding frame which carries the shaft 23. For this purpose the ends 33 ofV said shaft 23 are threaded and have angled lugs 34 mounted thereonk and secured thereto by nuts 35, said lugs being engaged by bolts .36 mounted in threaded holes in angled lugs 37 welded to the side frame members 4 and adapted to be held in adjusted vposition by locknuts 38, the screwing in of said bolts causing an outward movement of the shaft 23 and hence an outward movement of the roller structure associated therewith to take up any slack in the belt. f
W'hile I have shown a belt conveyer'and v plain rollers it will be understood that other forms of endless conveyers mounted on sectional, revoluble supports, supported in the 2V y. I y Y 1792,195.;
manner heretofore eX lained, may be used.
It Will be furtherv note that this construction i eliminated the use of overhanging or outboard bearings for the revoluble supports and 5 makes a compact construction that may be readily appliedvto different forms of appara.-
tus in connectionfwith which or invwhichlconveyers are used.
I desire it to beunderstood that this invenu, tion isnOtto-be limited'to anylparticularform.
or arrangement ofpfrtsqexceptinsofar *as such limitations are included in the claims.
` What I claimy as my invention is: .1. In a c onveyer:apparzit'us1 the lcombina- 5 'tion of a supporting frameinclidingtrang "verse Vframe members, laterallyzextending journal brackets securedto said frame inem bers. shaftsjonrnalledin. said brackets,.sec-

In testimony whereof, Iaflix my signature.
