Description
H. QIGQNZALEZ DISK TALKING MACHINE RECORD Filed March 13, 19 29 Feb. 10, 1931.
I Y Inventor Mar/0 @W QZ V Aiorney I Patented Feb. 10, 19 31 110110310 conmno GONZALEZ, or CHICAGO, rumors DISK TALKING-MACHINE RECORD Application filed Iarch 1a, 1929. Serial ms. 846,897.
This invention relates to records used for talking machines and more particularly to a sound record having a plurality of sound grooves on the surface of the record.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a record of the type described with a plurality of sound grooves whereby several different kinds of music, songs, or other, vibrations may be reproduced.
1 A still further object of the invention is to provide a record having a plurality of sound grooves for the top and bottom surface of the disk, the grooves being arranged in parallel volute spirals and the starting and terminating point of each of the ooves being in a direct center line of the disk.
My invention will be best understood from a study of the followingdescription taken in connection with the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a top or plan view of my invention showing one em diment thereof, and
Figure 2 15 a top or plan view of another embodiment of my invention.
In one embodiment of my invention as best illustrated in Figure 1, I emplo a disk 5 having two volute'spirals or soun grooves A and B, thereon, parallel with each other and disposed one within the other. i
Attention is called to the fact that the start ing point of each of the grooves is on a direct center line of the disk and that each of the grooves terminates likewise in a direct center line of the disk. It is readilyapparent then,
grooves and each of said grooves being a comthat by using this kind of a record, two different kinds of music, son s'or anykind of vibration may be recorder? and then reproduced on the record.
In'Figure 2 the invention is shown to include a disk 6, similar to that of the disk 5, but having three sound grooves instead of two on the disk 5. Likewise this disk 6 may also be formed on its top and bottom surfaces in a corresponding manner, and also the disk 5, if it be so desired.
Attention is also called to the fact that the sound grooves A, B, and C on the disk also start and terminate in a direct center line of the disk. This is to obviate the necessity of indicia for indicating the starting and finish of each groove so that the stylus may be placed at the beginning of the selected groove without losing a great deal of time in locating the beginning of the selected groove. Each of the disks 5 and 6 are provided with a hole in the center of the disk whereby the same may be conventionally placed upon the turntable of a conventional talking machine, and the stylus of the recording device may be placed in either of the grooves A, B, or A, B, C, of the respective disks.
I From the foregoing description, it will be seen that I have provided a record whereby several difi'erent kinds of music, son s or other kind of vibration may be selective y reproduced and is capable of use on an ordinary type of phonograph or talking machine.
Even though I have herein shown certain embodiments of the preferred embodime'ntoi? my invention, nevertheless it is to be understood that changes in the details of the construction thereof may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
- Having thus described my invention, what,
I wish to claim is:
A sound record comprising a disk'having a plurality of sound grooves provided thereon, said grooves being in parallel volute spirals, the starting and terminating oints of the grooves being in a direct center me of the disk, and the convolutes of one of said grooves arranged in alternate relation with 'respe'ctto the convolutes of the other of said plete sound selection.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature. HONGRIO- CONRADO GONZALEZ.
