I 5 My invention relates to a garment rack for,

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of simple, rigid construction, pleasing in appearance and inexpensive to manufacture.
A further object of the invention is to construct the device entirely of metal, the upright posts and connecting barsupon which the bracket fixtures rest being made of sheet steel bent'to form rectangular members when viewed in cross-section;
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention further resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and 'in the details of construction hereinafter deand check clip mounted on the supporting barshown in section.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the hat bracket, showing the supporting bar in dotted lines.
Referring now to the letters of reference placed upon the drawings:
, A-denotes a garment rack of substantially rectangular form, comprising a pair of standards, or posts BB formed of sheet-metal, connectedtogether by upper and lower bars D, D also formed of sheet metal, the'ends of which extend through openings provided in the posts. The lower bar D is relatively shorter than the upper bar D,its purpose is to assist in stiffening the structure, making it more rigid. E are screws fastening the posts and bars together to form a unitary device. i
F are cast metal bracket fixtures adapted to straddle the upper bar D, comprising depending hook-shaped portions F extending in opposite directions "to receive hangers for coats or other garments';the garments however may be hung directlyupon the hooks. These garment racksmay be shifted about to suit any location and when used in department stores for displaying dresses or other garments, they maybe arranged end to end in rows forming aisles of sufficient'width to accommodate both salesman and customer when making inspection of garments with a' view to purchaser Having thus described my invention, What i I claim is:
A garment rack, comprising a substantially rectangular frame consisting of a pair of posts formed of sheet metal, spaced apart I and rectangular in cross-section; a pair of base plates for supporting the posts; a crossioo bar formed of sheet metal rectangular in cross-section projecting respectively through rectangular openings near the top of the posts; a plurality of supporting bracket fixtures comprising a central inverted U-shaped saddle portion adapted to straddlethe rectangular cross-bars, each of said bracket fixtures having a pair of outwardly directed hooks projecting from each side of the saddle portion in superposed relation; a pin screwed through the upperwall of the saddle into said rectangular cross-bar to secure the bracket fixtures against displacement, a second cross-bar rectangular in cross-section extending through rectangular holes in the posts near the bottom of the latter; and set I screws extendingthrough the poststo secure the vcross-bar to the. posts.
