Relatively large link chains are frequently used as bracelets, the links being frequently curbed to lie all in a similar plane and flat upon the wrist, and in order that such a device may be provided with an extension member to permit it to be removed from the hand of the wearer without disconnecting any of the parts, a foldable extension device is provided,'an d in orderthat this device may be readily connected between thelinks of the chain, I have used as a connecting member a U-shaped portion of one of the links which portion I have here illustrated as being curbed that it and the chain link connected thereto may lie flat on the arm of the wearer, and I- have provided convenient adjusting means cooperating vwith this connector memferent points along the extension to vary the encircling size of the bracelet, and I .have so formed the intermediate sections of the extension device as to accommodate the legs of the U-connector member when the device is in folded position; and the following is a detailed description of the present embodiment of this invention illustrating the preferred means by which these advantageous results may be accomplished. I
with reference to the drawings, 15 desig- "nates one end section and 16 the other end section, each of which sections are channel shaped and are of such a relativesize as to fit together when in folded position. The section 15 has side walls 17 and the section 16 has side walls 18. Each of these side walls is provided with openings 19, 20, which are aligned in the opposite side walls and are arranged in pairs spaced apart along their lengt ' Connector members 21 and 22 are provided each for a respective end section in the shape of a U curbed at its bridge portion 23 to conform to the curbed links 24 of the chain so that each of the links 24 may lie fiat with reference to the connector members 21, 22 when in position upon the arm of the wearer.
Each of the connector members are provided with legs 25 and 26 which carry pro- 100 jections 27 adapted to extend into any one of the pair of openings or recesses 19 or 20 to adjustably position the connector member .with reference to the end section. There is sufficient inherent resiliency in stock of each connector member to tend to force the arms 25 or 26 outwardly to maintain the projections 27 in the recess 19 or 20 but which resiliency allows the arms to be flexed inwardly for detachment or adjustment of the connector members with referenceto the end sections as desired.
Detents 28 are forced inwardly from the side walls 18 beneath which the legs 26 of the connector member and snap to hold this connector member against movement with reference to this section. The connector on the opposite end, however, may be left free to swing about its projections 27 in their openings 19, as desired.
The two end sections are connected by means of intermediate sections 30, 31 and 32 which are hinged to each other as at 33 and hinged to the end sections as at 34 and 35. The connection 34 consists of a pin extending through eyes on the sections while the hinge connection 35 is formed by trunnions 36 extending outwardly from the edges of the section 31. These sections are of a width narrower than the width of the end sections and are sufiiciently narrow to lie between the legs of the connector members when the device is in folded position, as is clearly illustrated in Figures 9 and 10.
When the sections are folded, means such as detents 37 in the walls of one end section will snap into recesses 38, which are formed by the deflection of the metal to form the projection or detents 28 as heretofore described, to hold the two end sections in this folded position. A finger piece 39 may be provided for convenient lifting of the sections one from the other to permit unfolding of the parts.
i In use, one of the connector members is joined to the chain by passing one of its legs through the end link, such as 24 thereof and then fastening its legsin the end section. If the adjustment provided within the extensible member is not suficient to diminish the encircling size of the bracelet suficiently, the connector member may be passed through the chain link next to the end of its original length and the end link cut 05 or removed.

I claim:
1. In a bracelet having loop links, a foldable extension device having a plurality of sections pivotally connected together, U- shaped connection members, each having a base and legs, with the base and legs of substantially uniform diameter and simulating a portion of a loop link, the end sections of said device having side walls, the side walls of one end section having a air of recesses and the side walls of the .ot er end section having pairs of spaced recesses, and projections on the legs of the members cooperating with the pairs of recesses.
2. In combination, a foldable extension device having a plurality of sections pivotally connected together, a U-shaped connec tor member consisting of a portion of' a curbed loop link, an end section of said device having side walls with a plurality of pairs of spaced recesses therein and projections on the legs of the member to engage any one of the pairs of recesses whereby the connector member may be adjustably secured to said end section.
3.' In a bracelet having curbed loop links, a foldable extension device having a plurality of sections pivotally connected together, U- shaped connection members, each having an arcuate base and legs, with the base and legs of substantially uniform diameter and simu lating a portion of a curbed loop link, the end sections of said device having side walls, the side walls of one end section having a pair of recesses and the side walls of the other end section having pairs of spaced recesses, and projections on the legs of the members cooperating with the pairs of recesses.
4. A foldable extension device having end sections, U-shaped connector members, the members detachably secured to the end sections with the legs of the U-shaped connector members extending along the sections, intermediate sections hinged to each other and to the end sections and of a size and in a position to fold between the legs of the connector members.
5. A foldable extension device having end sections, U-shaped connector members, the members detachably and adjustably secured to the end sections with the legs of the U- shaped connector members extending along the sections, intermediate sections hinged to each other and to the end sections and of a size and in a position to fold between the legs of the connector members, and means for securing one of said connector members against movement with reference to the section to which it is adjustably attached.
6. A foldable extension device comprising channel shape end .sections of a size to nest together, each having side walls with aligned pairs of openings therein, a U-shaped connector member for each end section with the legs of the U fitting closel along each channel wall, and having a cur ed bridge portion between the le s of the U, projections adjacent the ends of t he legs of each member extending into one pair of the openings in the channel walls, and removable by lateral resilient contraction of the arms for ositioning in another pair of openings to ad]ustably secure the same in place, a plurality of intermediate plate sections hinged to ether and hinged to said end sections, where y said sections may i be folded to overlie each other, said intermediate sections being of a width to permit them to lie between the legs of the Us of the connector members, and cooperating means between the end sections to secure them in folded position.
